The Problem with Christian Music

Personally, I don't listen to Christian music so I have no opinion of it. However, I happened on this video by chance and thought the Christians here might be interested in taking a look.

As pointed out, it lacks creativity. In fact, other than a difference in the lyrics, it doesn't seem one wit different from secular music, and maybe this is done on purpose. Both seem to lack an astounding amount of originality. So, excluding the differences in lyrics, perhaps a better title here would be The Problem with Today's Popular Music.

Give a listen and let me know what you think.

I didn't look at it... but as @Cacotopia said, mainstream music is not much different.

Have you expanded your viewing to other genres?

I think there is very good Christian music and not so good
examples of good would include

Cacotopia

Let's go full Trottle
I have yet to find an interesting Christian metal song. None yet exist. They are all garbage because they can't seem to be very creative about saying the same message. SO they end up saying it very similarly over and over.

While not a "christian band" this one is about Christianity. SO I suppose this could be a "good" example of Christian music. Though they don't identify as a band solely for the faith. Obviously this isn't mainstream

Everything? It doesn't seem different from the mainstream music industry, I mean the lyrics are more banal for sure.
The music industry, much like all entertainment industries, are a business. They will have their formulas, they have their marketing campaigns and they will sell a product they think will reach the most customers. Christians are no different in this respect. Creativity can be found in the more underground movements, I suspect this may be true for some Christian acts.
Although the more hardcore Christian entertainment often ends up being on Cinema Snob episodes lol.

Depends on how we are defining it. Some Christian bands aren't overt about it and catch flak for it (from Christians/Christian music industry) because they didn't emphasis preaching and most listeners won't pick up on them being Christian. Some even depart from Christian labels over it.

Last I heard, Dave M. Is Messianic Jew, often considered in the xian category
That doesn't make their music Christian though.
Slayer's Tom Araya is Catholic, but Slayer is very anti-Christian
The pestilence of Jesus Christ
There never was a sacrifice
No man who hung the crucifix
Beware the call for purity
Infections their facility
I've made my choice
666!
That is sung by a Christian. But obviously it isn't a Christian message.

Hmm Alice Cooper has a lot of religious, spiritual, music. Its a main theme, I would say.
Even according to Alice Cooper rock and roll comes from the groin. Where do you find this as a main theme? Have you really listened to his lyrics? Sex is definitely a very strong, pervasive, and very present theme throughout, and the lyrics are heavily saturated with double entendres and sexual innuendos. His concerts have no religious connotations, imagery, or themes.
