The problem with Democrats and the liberal left is they are too emotional.

I guess I'd be left by US standards.
So thanks...this might be the first time ever I've been called 'too emotional'.

Can't wait to get home and tell my wife she's been wrong all these years.
I think it's safe to say that most of the world is Left by US standards.

I'll just point to Trump's campaign and ask where did emotional appeals not play a factor?
This rhetoric unfortunately fails on the same basis as the OP.

While I agree, and think there is research to support the idea about conservatives more likely believing stories that confirm bias and disbelieving stories that challenge bias (another sort of emotional guided behavior), we, ultimately, must face up to the fact that the entire political spectrum caters to our emotions. This is simply how the game is played.

One needn't look far on either side to see emotional appeals saturate content. They are selling propaganda, but worse still we want to buy it.

Yep like Science Daily rhetoric or Scientific American rhetoric. We know how the left feels about science and facts.

You can tell her you have science to back it up! =O]

I think that might cause more problems than it solves. Surely I'd be better off going on a complete rant if she dares question me, finishing up by sulking in the corner and refusing to drink my milk (unless someone warms it up)...

I didn't challenge your study. I challenged that your study supported your statements.

Surely one as rational as you can distinguish the two.
