It's not just their speed, it's their agility...we're much more maneuverable than humans and bears...Bears have been doing research into genetic engineering so they can up their speed.
Plenty of different bear races can easily outrun a squirrel. It would take one slow and probably sick or aged squirrel to get caught by a bear...and as that's part of the circle of life, we accept that...it's entirely possible that the squirrel had already died, as bears are known to eat carrion as well a nuts, fruits, honey, fish and the occasional backpacker...
Perhaps at peak velocity, on a straight and flat course...but it takes them longer and once they are lumbering along, squirrels can cut back or otherwise change course and the bear just can't adjust.Plenty of different bear races can easily outrun a squirrel.

GMO bears will exceed your expectations. It's not just their speed, it's their agility...we're much more maneuverable than humans and bears...
I'll tie your shoelaces together!I don't have to outrun the bear. I only have to outrun you.
Somehow, that reminds me of a story book from my childhood...something about a bear who loved salmon so much that he went to work for a cannery...dressed as a human in overalls, a cap, and his shoes on backward...I'll tie your shoelaces together!

Not something I'd take a bet on. Flat, uphill, or downhill, bears are much faster than what they typically given credit for. Granted their endurance isn't much to speak for, but they are very fast while they are running.Perhaps at peak velocity, on a straight and flat course...but it takes them longer and once they are lumbering along
I've got that one covered, nothing to figure out:I wear velcro strap walking shoes. While you are trying to figure that out I am gone.
