I won my wife's admiration by reinserting a power plug that had come lose. It's not that she's dumb, far from it, but when you have IT support/handyman at your beck and call, certain areas of problem solving can be avoided.

My wife listened to her patients about such things....like the coffee shop owner who did IT stuff on the side...he speced out her first laptop for her business...which ended up being a whole lot more work for me since I had to wipe it and reinstall the proper OS and other software she needed for her office. And the College professor who told her that she didn't need security software...again...more work for me...she finally stopped listening to them after I told her that if she took anymore advice from then over her husband who was an IT professional who does purchasing, support and security...then they can support her office. As for the handy man thing....I stopped trying...I have enough to do around the house...if she wants to listen to them and pay to get it done...whether it needs it or not..... so be it

That's nothing.
I'm going to put up some barriers to prevent driving on new asphalt.

Everyone will be so jealous of our exciting lives.

Watch this...I'm going to make the more jealous...I did some weeding this morning and I have more to do tomorrow....I might even dig out to bushes and re-mulch the area they are currently infesting.....but when I get home tonight.... I will be watering the grass seed again

I spent most of the morning cleaning up after the pavers.

Trying to plan things out is hard. The current path I have planned involves a few more periods of heavy mental overload and burnout, getting me away from here, but still in a position of what to do once I'm there and back into a position of mental duress that even just hearing people make any sort of noise irritates me?

Well...now Mrs Wu wants the youngest to go to a private school...like the oldest did...however the oldest wanted to go....the youngest doesn't....and there is absolutely no way I am sending the youngest to the same place the oldest went.... I had waaaaaaay to many fights with the staff there for me to go back and get into that again.

I am the first on RF to notice.....
The anti-capitalists offer no alternative.
Offer no alternative you like.

The Chinese model seems to be working extremely well for them and has been called a "socialist market economy".

I tend to be a proponent of John Stuart Mill's viewpoint as documented:
Liberal socialism’s seminal ideas can be traced to John Stuart Mill, who theorised that capitalist societies should experience a gradual process of socialisation through worker-controlled enterprises, coexisting with private enterprises.[9] Mill rejected centralised models of socialism that could discourage competition and creativity, but argued that representation is essential in a free government and democracy could not subsist if economic opportunities were not well distributed, therefore conceiving democracy not just as form of representative government, but as an entire social organisation.

Ah, the joys of marriage. But it applies in business as well. There's a saying about an expert is one who arrives carrying a briefcase and never the inhouse people who knows more about the problem than the so-called expert ever will.

Several years ago my office brought in outside contractors to build a database for the IT department's use. Did not use our developers, did not ask us what it should be like, did not ask for our input...but then the developers were all from India and the lead 2 (males) spoke no English and would not take advice from the other 3 (2 females 1 younger male)...who could all speak English......paid millions....... never ever used that database....why? Because it was bloody useless to us and INCREDIBLY user unfriendly...
