Hint, when in bear country always carry a tube of toothpaste with you and be accompanied by another person

If being chased by a bear open the toothpaste and squeeze a little out (being careful not to let any touch you). Drop the tube and run like your life depended on it.

Chances are the bear will stop chasing and concentrate on the toothpaste... For some reason they love it more than fresh meat.

Now, if the bear somehow misses the tube of toothpaste and continues chasing you simply run faster than your partner.
