Our system works just fine at the local level as well.

It still scares me. Locally Indiana is a disaster if you don't align with conservative ideology, or wish for better than crap wages and benefits. In California, it has lots of people voting on things they don't actually know about and just can't be making an informed decision. The dialysis cost limits, for example, worried me because patients would have paid less and received far worse treatment because those on top would be the last to lose any part of their already oversized slicd of pie.

To not pollute another thread, the next election is already better for me as I won't be losing sleep if Trump wins because I know live in a state that protects minority rights rather than being in state that provided the theocrat VP who has already fought the SC to deny those rights.

I got to watch Blazing Saddles on TV last night, and kudos to the network for airing it unedited and uncut. I don't see or understand why making racism and tue bad guys look especially bad deserves a viewer discretion thingy, but at least it kept everything intact. And middle fingers to an article I read awhile ago who claimed the movie is too shocking and not PC enough for today's audience - I hope Snow Whitie (the articles author) goes into shock from hearing the language and gets docked a day's pay for napping on the job.

I am avoiding calling the Orthopedic doc .....my right knee hurts...a lot, but I cannot afford to be on crutches during the winter in the northeast. If it snows, and it will, there is no one to take care of the driveway.....but, if it still hurts like this by January 01, 2020.... I shall call and hope it is just a cortisone shot. Been getting daily acupuncture, and it is better, briefly. But that is to be expected. Hopefully the reduction of pain last longer as the treatments continue.
