Here's one I'm sure I posted before but it's funny enough to post again.

That's not real nerding out. Having seen this when it first came out or when you first became aware of it is the mark of an uber nerd. Watching it now will raise your status if you get all the in jokes. Here's a small taste.

Ultimately, I think if the Star Wars and Star Trek universes were to ever converge, Hollywood would probably collapse and be sucked into some black hole.

But the Federation would be a powerful ally for the Republic (or Rebel Alliance), although I suspect the Romulans would side with the Empire. Jabba the Hutt may have some competition with the Ferengi moving in on his territory looking for business opportunities.

And of course, the Trek universe has the Q Continuum, the Douwd, the Organians, and other powerful species which make The Force seem like some kind of cheap tractor beam.

Back when the IMDb still had message boards, I used to frequent the various Star Trek boards. Some of the discussions were quite nerdy, to say the least. But some of it was fun.

Sounds cool. I used to frequent Star Wars boards, and I once had a friend who would frequent Star Trek boards.

...And I do hope people see the irony of someone like me, who has a collection of over 100 action figures, calling someone else a nerd.

I would sometimes visit the Star Wars boards, but it just had a different feel about it. By the time the first Star Wars movie came out in '77, I had already seen all the episodes of TOS, since it was re-run in syndication for several years after it was cancelled. I think there were Star Trek action figures available, but I don't think I got any. However, I did get a few models, a Star Trek lunch pail, a phaser (non-functional), and a friend had these Star Trek "communicators" which were just mini walkie-talkies.

You ask?
Why would you ask?

Now that I think about it, I recall a disagreement between Dax and Worf as to whether it's better to use a bat'leth or a mek'leth, with the latter being Worf's weapon of choice. A lightsaber mek'leth might have similar advantages.

As the mek'leth more resembles a dadao I assume it would make for a better weapon.
But the mek'leth lighsaber would be useless against the Borg and Daleks. Lighsaber anything is basically bringing a rowboat armed with pea shooters and blow guns to a fight against a proper battleship against those two.
