And you'll get streets, fire protection, police and other municipal services but who cares - they should come free of any taxes.
I'm OK with paying taxes for services.
But the point is that ownership is conditional.
And government has a tax lien that supersedes all other liens.
Moreover, it can raise property taxes with no justification
whatsoever. If we object, the burden is upon us to do the
research, pay the fees, & make the appeal to the assessor
& finally to the courts.
BTW, if you've lived in your Californiastanian home for a
long time, your property tax is far lower than any new
buyers of homes, who heavily subsidize you.

I know that - I'm totally aware of the gift of Proposition 13 to big business and long time homeowners. It's not fair, of course, but that's the way it is for now.

I support a change in the law so that you pay your fair share.
BTW, "big business" wasn't the only beneficiary. All commercial
property owners benefitted from long time ownership.

It is nice outside...sunny and 75F..... not late fall for a change (raining and in the 40s)...like it has been the last few days..... so.... I think I will attempt to go outside for a hobble....
