Is the family all permanent CA residents now?

To my delight, yes.
And my delight because neither one are happy here. They complain about the heat (and act as it's not any difference with low humidity), complain about the people (they both fit in well in Indiana, and they are both racist against Latinos), complain about the lifestyle here (we're too laid back, lazy, and pushovers where in "Indiana they just tell you to get back to work."), and both still refer to Indiana as "back home."
Made delightful because dad moved out here for the weather (he did enjoy winter here much more and would probably be happier snowboarding) and legal weed (he has some nasty chronic stuff). The pleasant winters he's discovering come with some real heat in the summer, and the weed isn't helping like he was hoping. Mom just hates it here and moved here for him.
Our family really is not healthy or functional.

Dingleberry FedEx delivery person has twice now lied about an item being signed for, with this package going to the wrong address.
It confirmed my suspicion that among the conversations my parents had with the neighbors (during lock down, when those things weren't wise or smart to do), turns out they have only ever referred to me as male to them.
I swear they're more insecure and uncomfortable over this than I am.
