Passenger on flight arriving in Miami from Colombia opens plane door, jumps on wing (local10.com)

MIAMI – A passenger on a flight that arrived in Miami from Colombia was apprehended after exiting the plane before it reached the terminal.

According to police, the passenger opened an emergency door and jumped onto the wing of the aircraft as it was pulling into its designated gate at approximately 7:16 p.m. Wednesday.

Local 10 News has learned the man who exited the plane was 33-year-old Christian Segura, an American citizen. Police have confirmed his identity.

The flight, which had just arrived at Miami International Airport from Cali, Colombia, was American Airlines flight 920, police said.

When officers arrived, Segura jumped off the wing and was taken into custody.

I learned of these cards you can get to let the police see to know you have autism and things to expect. It caught my attention because some of the things highlighted as examples have been things that have made some cop encounters rough for me. But the ones who brought that out were jerks, with things progressing getting nervous with an overbearing cop. So I wonder if a card would be worth it or could it be something else to make things worse?

Poorly at best, and as I mentioned, the ones who made me nervous enough for that to be an issue, it's a very real concern if they'd think I was using it for an excuse.
Police don't get mental health training. Not even in coping skills to help them deal with the job.

I wish there was a simple answer to that very good question. I suspect it would help with some and not others.
