This one is for @Wu Wei who will appreciate the sagacity and extensive knowledge of the person with the laptop:

First day working a tech support job, I answer a phone call from a woman whose laptop won't turn on. She's at the airport trying to get some work done and is very frustrated because she had been working for several hours during a layover and the laptop suddenly shut off. I asked her if she had the laptop plugged in when it shut off, or if she was just running it on the battery. "It can be plugged in? I thought it was supposed to be wireless."

I honestly thought I was being pranked because I was the new guy. After a lengthy pause to decide if this was a serious call, I advised her to try plugging it in. Laptop turned on, she was amazed that it didn't just recharge itself when she wasn't using it.

Hey, probably she heard about wireless charging. It makes total sense that if wireless charging is available and she's paying top dollar for a laptop that it should be included. Her instincts are not wrong. It could be done.

This one is better:

My current boss asked me to "make the pages smaller" so she can see all of them" she had excel zoomed in to 200% and thought I was just sending things in font 46. This person has been in her position for 12 years. Ugh.

Be grateful if your boss understands weighted averages, and if they don't...don't even try to explain them.

I've dealt with something similar.....but the pages were to small to read in excel

Back in my Mechanics days I had a lawyer arguing with me about him needing an exhaust pipe on his car. He agreed it needed a Y pie, muffler and tail pipe but did not understand why he needed the additional pipe...... I was completely befuddled, but after about 5 minutes of this, when he said once more, rather angrily, "I don't see why I need that pipe?" I looked at him and calmly said..."Because it's not there. And unless you have trained exhaust fumes that know how to get from the Y pipe to the muffler....you kind of need it"... He looked at me for a full 30 seconds....and then said...."OK" and walked back into the waiting room

It all starts with ignorance about file systems. Many people get intimidated by the strange layout of documents, images, Downloads etc. Its not intuitive.

Add to that they aren't sure what is a window and what is the OS and why clicking on this does that.

From there they just assume everything about computers is mysterious and approach them ritualistically.

Even hyper-patriots flout bad laws, eg, excessive
regulation of Ameristanian flag display.
This isn't flouting. They just don't know. Like that arseling who sat at Pelosis desk and let his flag touch the floor. That violates flag code.
I personally don't care, but if you're going to call yourself a patriot and get butthurt over people disrespecting the flag at art displays and while watching grown men prepare to chase balls, you really need to do things right yourself. Like properly disposing of tattered flags rather than continuing to display them.

I too have flouted many laws out of ignorance.
There are so dang many unnecessary ones.
When I fled my draft physical, I didn't even know
it was a crime....let alone a real felony.
