I don't know who shot him, but I busted his nose. (I had a friend when I was a kid with that name.)

I agree. Come to think of it, I never cared about who shot J.R. either. I remember when that was a major issue for a lot of people. There were even people who bumper stickers that said "Who shot J.R.?"

It was at that point that I realized that our society was past the point of no return.

That "popularity" ruined that show for me. I stopped watching with that cliff-hanger. The same thing happened with General Hospital. When the Luke & Laura twist went crazy I stopped watching.

I tried to watch Dallas recently and it didn't age well. I never got to the part where JR got shot.
