I'm trying to learn why driving is so tiring. Why is that after driving for 8 hours I'm more tired than a 12 hour shift at a gas station?
I'm also trying to find why the ponds in eastern Indiana/western Ohio have a weird greyish tint to them. Some sort of mineral, I'm assuming, but I wont' be happy till I find out exactly why.

Driving demands a lot of concentration, so doing that for 8 hours is fatiguing.
Add to this being immobile (in the car seat) the whole time.

We're getting serious rain out here in Northern California. Given how early it is in the rainy season, it's a very good sign.

We're getting some serious warmth in Indiana, as well as Ohio and Michigan. It's expected to be in the 70s for the highs all week.

I got to drive to Detroit yesterday. I hated it. Rough and narrow roads, crazy drivers who go too fast and cut people off, and overall just an anxious ridden part of the trip. But I was near 8-Mile.

Sounds like a pleasant experience....by Detroit standards.

Indianapolis and Fort Wayne are really simple compared to that mess I went through yesterday. Even the several hours it took getting out of DC after a rally wasn't even anywhere close to as bad. I was going 15 MPH over the speed limit in a construction zone, and people were still about to run me over. I was even cut off by a semi, which caused the old guy I was dropping off (who also said I talk with a Canadian accent.) to start cussing at the semi.
And then on my way back, my phone's GPS (Google) told me to go turn on the wrong way down a one way.
And I also got to go to Toledo yesterday, which was pretty cool because I got to drive through an old and abandoned Amtrak station. But the guy I had to drive to Detroit didn't know the area, and the others weren't sure high to get onto 75, so I had to use my phone GPS for that.
And so I got a real GPS last night so there are no more not sure where to go, missed turns, bad directions, or people not paying attention.

I hate phone GPSs because they're so limited.
Even my capable Garmin Nuvi requires care in planning routes.
But I'd never travel without it.
They've saved many a marriage too.

I got a nice little tom tom that was maybe about 1/4 the price of a Garmin. No wonder Tom Tom went into bankruptcy or nearly so. They made the mistake of making their computer software extremely large and invasive, so nobody wanted to update the maps.

I tried Garmin and iGo. I prefer Garmin. I remember the software Nokia N97 used and it was the most I liked. Nokia devices were small at the time unfortunately so usage was bad.
