I didn't know it was a Chinese thing. I've heard plenty of German and Dutch people insist they have done the math though. And when you look at it, China is becoming very technologically advanced and Germans have long been known for their engineering and German engineering did build the foundations of the rocket technology for the space program.
Really, I think if Americans weren't so scared, bashful, and humbled by it we could be up there with them. It's math. It would make things so much simpler and easier if we could apply to everything.
We have terrible problems teaching math here in grade school.
So many I know had trouble simply because of bad teachers.

I recall helping daughter with her high school math, & found
the problems inscrutable. It was basic material that I thoroughly
knew, but they managed to make it ridiculously difficult.
Math should be easy....especially thru integral calculus.

Who needs to know math because numbers don't matter anymore - they have "alternative facts" to fill any need.

It should be. Math really isn't hard. But it's math, and they put so many words into a math text book but are so sparse on examples and how to actually do the specific task they are asking. Tutoring my nieces and nephews, I gave up on trying to use text books to refresh myself and instead start with the answer and reverse it into the question. It's usually quicker and easier that way. Math shouldn't be hard until statistics, but that is only because there are numerous steps to take and many things to remember in what order to do. Not that it's actually hard to do, just difficult remembering what one or two things change between a z value or p value - especially when you never do it because nobody does it and even the other statistics teacher is teaching it all on computer.

I almost want to like that, almost want to laugh, but the words of the King's Court are worrisome. It's such a petty thing, but "biggest crowd ever, period," is the office of President really of so little importance to Trump that he's turning it into a pissing contest and seeing who has the biggest dick? And then it got worse as it went from lying over something truly stupid to lie about, to going full blown illogical by supporting one of the most dumb things to ever lie over by saying those challenging it just this made up fantasy of "alternative facts."
But, the Republicans were shoving ethics aside before Trump even stepped foot in office, and his appointments are overwhelming the system with ethical concerns and conflicts of interests.

Those work for politicians & economists, but in the real world (eg, engineering)
"alternative facts" cause rockets to explode & bridges to collapse.

Politicians can start wars and economists wreck the economy. Bridges and rockets are less lethal if body count is important to you.

So I've noticed.
But their primary function is to stay employed, & failure due to bad facts & delusional reasoning is no hindrance.
Bridges and rockets are less lethal if body count is important to you.
But their failure is more directly connected to the designers & builders,
whose careers are on the line because the facts are more objective,
ie, they're real facts.

The new regime does not believe in real facts but only political correctness. To them real facts are a liberal conspiracy.

I think you're seeing more difference between the new admin & prior ones than is warranted.
Obama was also quite factually challenged.
And then there was Bill Clinton....& Dubya.
Go back farther, & the pattern is there too.

At least Obama spun the webs of political of speaking not full truths but not outright lies and being choosy and selective about the numbers he picked to represent. Dubya's "factually challengedness" got us involved in two very long and very expensive wars (though truth be told I don't think he really believed Iraq and Saddam was a threat or that they possessed "WMDs"). And, at least B. Clinton's career was at stake when he lied before a congressional hearing. The new King's Court is making accusations of "alternative facts" over something that is totally and utterly not a big deal. Nobody cares. But, then again, Trump did get defensive over nothing more than someone saying he has small hands.

He has some very large inaugural balls, you have to give him that!

It's totally warranted in my book. 99.99% of humanity lies. But when you get systematic big lies and they're not even slowed down when whoppers are pointed out to them but continue to repeat the same lies, it's at a whole different level.

Evaluating whose lies are worse is difficult when some pols offend us more than others.
I know many who believe Obama's are worse.
And of course many who believe Trump's are.
One thing about this is clear to me about this.
It's largely based upon what one wants to believe.

I understand the fear of what Trump might do.
I'm wary of the dangers he poses too.
But sometimes the greater problem for people is the fear itself.
