White Kitty isn't even our cat.
So how's that for service!
There is a cat like that at my house, except he's orange and brown (I named him Trevor after a NES video game character that is orange and brown), and he showed up last week with a collar on.

I've decided my next round of piercings are going to be one more in each ear lobe (finishing that plan off with three in each lobe) and my tongue.

And the battle begins. Went to my local doc today and she put me on anti-biotics and changed my type of dressing and had me do some lab work and wants me back to be seen by her nurse in a couple days. While I'm waiting at the pharmacy I get a call from the case mgr nurse at the VA hospital and she starts talking about having me go back to my doc to have the sutures removed. Something my doc didn't feel the need for at the time. Nurse said she would call my doc and see when she could fit me back in today. I get a call back about half hour later from the nurse and now she's talking about me coming into the clinic Friday to see about the sutures. Yeah...go ahead...battle my doc. Random RN 2hrs away that I've never met and has never seen my surgical scarring vs ARNP who has examined it and tested it and knows my history as she was the one who decided I needed the surgery in the first place. I'll go with my ARNP...thank you.

Ugh. Yet another example of how badly the system is broken.

I don't know that I'd say it was anymore broken than any other hospital vs clinic brouhaha. The thing is, no matter how much the RN at the hospital flaps at my ARNP, my ARNP is my provider and has the last say. Not to mention it takes me minutes to get to my clinic and nearly 2hrs to the hospital. While in pain that restricts my ability to sit for any extended period of time, which do you think I'm going to go to if I have any choice in the matter?

And for Halloween I will be the proud parent of Spider-Man (again ;) ) and Katniss Everdeen. Strange siblings I'm sure.

It's pretty bad when I have zero med school background and even I know it's probably early still to be taking them out. Too bad anymore a chunk of the medical profession doesn't understand the concept of allowing time to heal. The surgeon who did my second knee surgery gave me no restrictions, no therapy, and didn't even tell me to take time off from work.

The surgeons who discharged me after surgery said I could return to work in 4 days. My ARNP and her nurse jaw dropped and laughed at that. According to what I found online the normal healing time for my surgery is 2 to 4 weeks. I'm going more towards 4 I think at least.

Some doctors just don't know what it really takes to recover from such things and have the empathy to understand the pain because they just haven't been through anything physically traumatic before.

I bought marshmallows that are shaped like pumpkins. They are going to go into my hot chocolate tonight. They say they are pumpkin spice flavored. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but it's worth trying, because marshmallows that are shaped like things are so god damned cute!
