How many clutches have you burned out? I taught my husband how to drive a stick and in the month it took him to learn, he burned out two.
None so far!

I'm not too bad. I've driven stick in the past (other people's cars :D), and I even took lessons at a driving school that specializes in manual transmission training - I figured the money I spent would be worth it in savings on clutches.

But I've never had a daily driver with a five-speed until now.

Edit: actually, I'm more worried about the synchros than the clutch. Third feels a bit funky... though not too bad, considering that it's got almost 400,000 km on the odometer (I wasn't kidding when I said that it's an old truck). ;)

Well he had been driving a automatic for for about 15 yrs and had never set foot near a stick until we bought one. The truck cost us about $500 and he figured it would be easy. 2 clutches, 2 tows, and about $700 later, he finally figured it out. He had to start in 2nd gear until he figured out the shifting

Heh... my truck cost me $300.

... though since then, I had to pay $500 for an exhaust (it had rusted through at the catalytic converter), $100 in panels and paint to deal with a couple of rusty fenders, $10-20 for a headlight that was leaking water (the healight worked, but I just hate that water sloshing around inside) and I may have used up my year's allotment of cursing while dealing with the rear sway bar.

But it runs great. It's got 400,000 km on it now; I'm hoping to get it to 1,000,000. :D

The ferry was so loud with all the drunken wanna be green Irish leprechauns.
As I was out driving today, I saw a cop car stopped in front of a house. The lawn was covered in signs that said "kiss me, I'm Irish!", and the cop was talking to several people drinking beer on the front porch.

This was the day after St. Patrick's day. At 9:30 am.

I'm feeling accomplished today.
In my philosophy class the chapter lecture was over morals, and homosexuality and gay marriage was brought up. As soon as anyone uttered something anti-gay, I destroyed their point and made it invalid by using scientific studies and findings (a rarity in that class). My efforts were payed off when one guy was talking to me during break and asked me some more questions about it and in the end someone who was against gay marriage became a supporter of the right for gays to wed. He is still against it on a religious level, but it nice knowing that some people are capable of being educated (especially in that class).
