Q: How many Chicago School economists does it take to change a light bulb?

A: None. If the light bulb needed changing the market would have already done it.

Q: How many mainstream economists does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Two, one to change the bulb and one to assume the existence of ladders.

Q: How many conservative economists does it take to change a light bulb?
A1: None. The darkness will cause the light bulb to change by itself.

A2: None. If it really needed changing, market forces would have caused it to happen.

A3: None. If the government would just leave it alone, it would screw itself in.

How many socialists does it take to change a light bulb?
None.
They can't afford a light bulb.
Or a socket to screw it into.
And electricity hasn't arrived to the collective yet.

Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, a practical economist, and an old drunk are walking down the street together when they simultaneously spot a hundred dollar bill. Who gets it? The old drunk, of course, the other three are mythological creatures.

For three years, the young assistant professor took his vacations at a country inn. He had an affair with the innkeeper's daughter. Looking forward to an exciting few days, he dragged his suitcase up the stairs of the inn, then stopped short. There sat his lover with an infant on her lap! "Why didn't you write when you learned you were pregnant?" he cried. "I would have rushed up here, we could have gotten married, and the child would have my name!" "Well," she said, "when my folks found out about my condition, we sat up all night talkin' and talkin' and we finally decided it would be better to have a ******* in the family than an economist."

A mathematician, an accountant and an economist apply for the same job.
The interviewer calls in the mathematician and asks "What do two plus two equal?" The mathemetician replies "Four." The interviewer asks "Four, exactly?" The mathematician looks at the interviewer incredulously and says "Yes, four, exactly."

Then the interviewer calls in the accountant and asks the same question "What do two plus two equal?" The accountant says "On average, four - give or take ten percent, but on average, four."

Then the interviewer calls in the economist and poses the same question "What do two plus two equal?" The economist gets up, locks the door, closes the shade, sits down next to the interviewer and says "What do you want it to equal?"

Disciplinary Actions

In the months leading up to his escape, King had reportedly been involved in several disciplinary incidents. He was accused of violating several army regulations, including failing to report for duty, being absent without leave, and using drugs.

In on September 25, 2022, he allegedly repeatedly punched a man, then 23, in the face at a nightclub near Hongdae, Mapo District, Seoul, South Korea. The victim did not want to press charges so he was not indicted.

In October 8, 2022, he was involved in an altercation in Mapo District and when police officers tried to question him, he continued with his aggressive behavior without answering questions from the officers. He was placed in the backseat of their patrol car where he shouted expletives and insults against Koreans, the Korean army and the Korean police and kicked the vehicle’s door several times, causing about 584,000 won ($458) in damages. He later pleaded guilty to assault and destruction of public goods and paid 1 million won ($783) to fix the vehicle and spent time in U.S. military detention in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, South Korea.

In May 2023, King was placed on a 45-day restriction of movement, during which he was not allowed to leave the base without permission. However, he violated this restriction by leaving the base without permission on several occasions.King's disciplinary problems culminated in his attempted escape to North Korea. He was being escorted back to the United States for disciplinary action when he broke away from his escort and crossed the border into North Korea.

According to reports, King was laughing as he crossed the border, leading some to speculate that he had planned his escape for some time. However, the exact details of his escape and detention remain unclear.

So, the guy seemed to have disciplinary problems, was getting into fights, causing damage, and just being an all-around stinker. They were at the airport getting ready to take him back to the U.S. for disciplinary action, and then he runs off...into North Korea.

In conclusion, the case of the US soldier facing disciplinary action who fled into North Korea has raised many questions about the motivations and mental state of the soldier.

Regardless of his motivations, it is clear that the soldier is now in a very difficult situation. He is being held by the North Korean authorities, who are known for their harsh treatment of prisoners, and it is unclear what his fate will be.

The incident has also raised questions about the security of the border between North and South Korea, and the ability of the US military to prevent soldiers from crossing into North Korea. It is likely that there will be increased scrutiny of soldiers who are facing disciplinary action in the future, and that measures will be put in place to prevent similar incidents from occurring.

They said he was also doing drugs, so who knows? Maybe he was a North Korean spy all along.

It could be that he mistakenly thought that South Korea is the one ruled by Kim Jong Un. So, he ran into what he foolishly thought was the free country. ‘Lousy US Army! I’ll show them for stationing me under some dictatorship!’

When I was maybe nine or 10 years old, I heard my father telling my mother one day about something he watched on TV about the assassination of JFK and the attempted assassination of Reagan. I hadn’t seen any of those clips prior to that moment, and I didn’t know what assassination meant, so I had quite the assumption about what had happened. I imagined JFK in a suit standing against a brick wall being shot in the neck by an executioner just a few feet away. I figured that that happens to some presidents if they do a terrible job.

Crazy general alert!

Excerpted...
A three-star Air Force general said the U.S. military’s approach to artificial intelligence is more ethical than adversaries’ because it is a “Judeo-Christian society,” an assessment that drew scrutiny from experts who say people from a wide range of religious and ethical traditions can work to resolve the dilemmas AI poses.
