Ahh that's explains the modicum of civility.
Maybe.

He was a Pom (from Burton on Trent) who served as a sergeant in the Australian Army.
He was taller than me, and I think it's fair to say exhibited many qualities you'd expect in a soldier who fought both Germans and Japanese for many years.

Whilst he certainly had the stuff upper lip, I don't think many would have leapt to him being a model of civility...lol

@lewisnotmiller is always interesting to discuss things with, and he's clearly a great family man who is passionate about his family.

@JustGeorge doesn't have the patience of a saint; a saint has her patience.

@exchemist's science posts and his perspectives in general are some of my favorite reads on the forum.

@YmirGF's prison experiences are also among my favorite reads. I'm glad he has decided to share them with us.

@anna. is a genuine, insightful person.

You are too kind, @Debater Slayer Who knew that my humour would both get me into trouble and earn me so much acceptance in prison? I'm so glad you enjoyed reading my small, but windy, effort here.

Random positive words.

@Rival for her amazing, almost prophetic dream, and continued friendship.
@Father Heathen for tolerating me. I always enjoy the banter
@Snow White for being her amazing self.
@icehorse for being indefatigable and a genuine RF treasure
@SkepticThinker for being thought-provoking
@BlueIslandGirl for the great conversation
@The Hammer who has been a genuine pleasure to deal with. I wish you well.

The whole Admin staff for being so supportive and helping me to wend my way through the potential minefields by proofreading some of my material prior to posting.

@Brickjectivity 's posts are often a pleasure to read. I'm not sure if he means to come off this way, but sometimes when reading his posts, I get the sense that he's a highly intelligent person, but one who gets bored easily.
That is super nice and encouraging. I am one of those that must erase much material, and clarity requires an effort. I doubt many people who know me would give me such praise, so it is only because this medium hides the reality...the man in a t-shirt in a disheveled state in a disheveled background lucky to have anyone say such a nice thing.

Which is actually the reality? The intelligent man with interesting things to say, or the man in the T-shirt with the disheveled state and background?

Perhaps you really do have a t-shirt, and are living in some disheveled scenario, but those are details. While so many people focus on how a person can make up an identity online, they often don't realize for anyone who might be on a bit of a unique path that it gives a person the ability to actually be oneself without folks getting caught up on some detail(that might be interesting or catching, but is only a small piece of the person as a whole). Online, the folks can't see the T-shirt, so they don't think about it. Therefor, we can focus on the more important things(such as the interesting thoughts put forward).

Here is a shout out to @Iti oj who has not been around lately. Iti's special talents were entrepreneurial exuberence and the ability to whip up a party in no time flat. He liked everyone, and one of his greatest flaws was a failure to recognize how flawed and diverse his friends were. I couldn't stand some of his friends posts, and he just kept making more odd and extreme friends. Like @Rival.
