The Random Positive Words Thread

@Snow White for being her amazing self.

Thank you!

I'm just me. A person with a million thread ideas and who will probably never do them all, but who is okay with that.

To give a small preview though, it may not be today, but I'm thinking about asking in the future whether the book of Revelation isn't the end but only the beginning, and exploring the idea of if the devil and the fallen angels are destroyed, if another heavenly angel can take the devil's place, as well as exploring some other themes.

We'll see.

Here is a shout out to @Iti oj who has not been around lately. Iti's special talents were entrepreneurial exuberence and the ability to whip up a party in no time flat. He liked everyone, and one of his greatest flaws was a failure to recognize how flawed and diverse his friends were. I couldn't stand some of his friends posts, and he just kept making more odd and extreme friends. Like @Rival.

Speaking of my own friends, I probably have about as many friends in general, as you can expect or ask for from an introvert. Some of these friends are people that will just hang out with me based upon me posting a lot in certain boards, then get more distant if I stop posting in those boards.

Others, are people who may not always have pie-in-the-sky impressions of me, but tend to like me regardless of my choices of beliefs. Which, given that I have changed beliefs before, could be a positive.

@Fool is an interesting poster. They seem to incorporate love a lot into their belief-system. Whether I always agree with them and on everything is besides the point. However, there's something to be said for the consistency to some of their beliefs. I'd like to maybe some day, achieve a fraction of the same consistency. They just have a way of making me smile, reading their posts, as well.

@Link His views are rather non-Western and non-secular (Which is refreshing for the standards I'm used to on this forum), acts like he knows he's not perfect, seems to be sincere about this and can get his message across without that "holier-than-thou" attitude.

@Starlight I think she's a sweetheart, and wears her heart on her sleeve.

@Quintessence Although I consider myself a staunch monotheist and they appear to have an aversion to it, @Quintessence can often explain things in words regarding spirituality in a way I find difficult to explain.

@Augustus An atheist or agnostic who doesn't take his own norms and values for granted. I find this refreshing as well. He also seems to know a lot about history and culture, which may explain why he doesn't takes his norms and values for granted.

@Erebus You seem like a nice, laid back guy I could watch horror movies with and geek out over them.

@SomeRandom Looks like you're not too shy to express what is meaningful to you, and yet you have an easy-going attitude (on here from what I saw so far at least) and don't become condescending, hostile, or provocative when you're debating with your political opponents.

@Rachel Rugelach Your kindness and creativity are admirable. Your passion for your Jewish background can also help me learn some new things about the Jewish faith and culture.

@mikkel_the_dane You seem to be here for the sole purpose to remind us that even our sense of objectivity is based on a degree of subjectivity.

@syo I'm not sure why you do what you do, but it's happened more than a few times that your short and unnuanced posts cracked me up.

What do you think of Galen Strawson?

I'm familiar with about 30% of Strawson's ideas. Mostly concerning consciousness, but I've also found some of his other things interesting about him over the years. I tend to like older stuff as far as philosophy goes. (Personal quirk.) Strawson is a bit contemporary, but he is still on my radar. Any of his ideas that you think are worth discussing?

@Dan From Smithville was mentioned in another post. I think you guys would really hit it off if you ever responded to one another. But there are plenty of interesting folks here.

@Dan From Smithville seems like a pretty humble guy. But I think he's a good example of a theist that earns the respect of theists and atheists alike.

I think @Snow White is an interesting philosopher. The fact that she and I are football fields apart on some things makes our exchanges all the more interesting. Her engagement in the subject matter is also genuine, and I appreciate that. Plus this thread is super awesome.

I actually might take up theology, too, but more from the perspective of a non-theist (which might initially be a little weird, but we'll see.)

Are you a fan of Bart Ehrman? I am. He's an atheist. And although his field is technically "textual criticism" which is distinct from theology... the finding of textual critics often have huge implication for theology.
