The Real Reason Trump Won

"Today, the right-wing media—Fox News (and the entire News Corp.), Newsmax, One America News Network, the Sinclair network of radio and TV stations and newspapers, iHeart Media (formerly Clear Channel), the Bott Radio Network (Christian radio), Elon Musk’s X, the huge podcasts like Joe Rogan’s, and much more—sets the news agenda in this country. And they fed their audiences a diet of slanted and distorted information that made it possible for Trump to win."

What do you think? Legitimate analysis? Or liberal hogwash?
Seems to fluctuate. One day it's the left, next day it's the right.

Media bias exists on both sides.
It long has. So while it's a problem,
I wouldn't blame it for Harris's loss.
It was Harris's poor campaigning.

These media organizations thrive because they are have a gullible base that are easily attracted to their content. Their emotions are manipulated in ways that are common in sales and marketing. If we had a citizenry that was more educted and skilled at critical thinking they would not be attracted to this type of media. The right is opportunistic and they are massively successful at it.

I have seen examples of this media and I recognize it as trash and not worthy my time. I learn about what these media groups present by some RF members who repeat it. They are indifferent to being made aware that their sources aren't reputable. They don't care. Being informed is not an interest for them.

Easy to blame them. Ultimately, the Ds lost touch with the struggles and concerns of the average working folk. Trans rights? Unrestricted abortion? Unlimited money for oversees wars that are bull **** imperialism?

[**** Ukraine]

All nonsense for most voters trying to put food on thr table. If the Ds would be a bit less CLUELESS, they would have won.

IMHO.

Totally agree. I was listening to some young "entrepreneurs" today, finally getting tariffs explained to them, and when they finally had the reality explained to them (China doesn't pay, American consumers do), they all looked crest-fallen. One even asked, "how do I change my vote?"

It is all a matter of how informed people really are: and the MAGAs are very sadly badly uninformed about a lot of things. And the right-wing, faux-news outlets like Fox are the principle reason.

Americans will very soon know just how few of Trump's promises he can actually keep. It's logistically and financially impossible to deport even a million people in just 4 years. Tariffs will cost Americans, nobody else. Of course, figuring it out won't help, as it's already too late.

I vehemently disagree with your assessment of Ukraine, but that is not what interests me the most, what interests me the most about your post is that you seem to think trans rights and abortion rob people of food on the table.

Since abortion saves bucketloads of food for the table and the cost of signing a law to protect human rights is insignificant in the scheme of the life it saves I would suggest your views are the product of far-right misinformation in my view.

Do you have a problem with marginalized groups having freedom? Are you against ay rights? How about the rights of black people, opposed to that as well? Maybe women shouldn't be allowed to vote again.
Unrestricted abortion?
No, the Roe decision which was decided by a conservative SC court 50 years ago.
Unlimited money for oversees wars that are bull **** imperialism?
No, aid for democracies that face attack from our adversaries. I take it you don't want to give aid to Israel, either.

Who was it that lowered prices on medicines? Democrats. Who pased the ACA? Democrats. Whose tried to repeal it 72 times? Republicans. They've had nothing to replace it. No healthcare reform. Biden actually put policies into action to reduce inflation and we had better results in lowering inflation than any other nation.

I don't think the Democrats lost touch -- I think they just haven't learned to talk down to Americans. The Republicans do that very well. And then use it to turn Americans against each other.

Americans, even "average working folk," have feelings -- they're not uncaring. They actually like fairness, most of them. Their attitudes to trans folks and women dealing with unwanted pregnancies are, for the most part, sympathetic. The majority (well over 70%) support gay marriage -- because most of them know what love is, and how important it is.

And there's no "unlimited money" for foreign wars. All the materiel that the U.S. is sending to Ukraine and Israel (the latter more unfortunately, in my view) is made in the U.S., by American workers earning a wage. The reality is that in donating that materiel, the U.S. is only losing the profit margin that might be had if they were selling them to another nation. So that is overstated.

Good, you're in the minority. Most Republicans, and some Dems, believed Biden and Democrats were the reason inflation and prices increased.

They were misinformed.

Much of the presidency is luck, but the incumbent gets the credit/blame regardless. You can make the case that things would probably have been as bad under the other side, but they were definitely that bad under the incumbent.

If the economy is good, you don’t see people falling over themselves to take credit away from their side when in power and pointing out it would probably have been just as good under the opposition too.

People excuse their side and blame the other side when things are bad.

When things are good they praise their side or argue that things are good despite the other side, not because of them.

The incumbent gets the luck good or bad, and gets the consequences. Always has done always will do.

That sanctimonious condescending bullcrap isn't working anymore. I'd recommend giving up the tired worn out platitudes like your imaginary version of a gullible voting base. Give me a break. Most of the citizens in this country are not gullible.

What? Being educated means one is now vastly superior in critical thinking and the rest are somehow subordinate ? What the hell. Lofty much smirking away with the snuff box and handkerchief dangling from the finger and thumb?

The real reason is people can't afford anything anymore , and Biden and Harris pretty much destroyed everything they touched and created a colossal mess of out of this country creating unimaginable hardship for people.

They can't afford the basics, they can't afford to put put food on the table , they can't afford to care for their families, they cant afford medicines, they cannot put money into savings. Assuming savings accounts actually means anything today.

That's the bottom line, and that's why Harris lost because she went on about things that are not central to the needs of American citizens who've been trying desperately to bang that message into modern Democrats heads without any success until now, when Trump won with a stark message that they're just sick and tired of it and they're not going to take all the crap they have been fed anymore.

There is no rational basis to have voted for Trump, unless you are an unethical rich person who will benefit from his tax policies, and have the wealth to not worry about the disasterous economic consequences.

I'm not sure what you're so upset about. Your criminal was elected and will be president. Why aren't you happy? Are you seeing truth in the criticisms of Trump voters, and the bad ideas that Trump says he will impose? There are already negative reactions to the expected tariffs. Inflation is coming.

Talk about hubris. This leftist media source thinks it knows better than the majority of voters. They can't and refuse to admit that they got it wrong. If the majority are following those supposed "right wing" media that would make them centrist, not right wing.

The New Republic is irrelevant and has a puny circulation. Nobody cares.

Inflation is coming? inflation is already here. It's been here the last two and a half years as everything went to hell since the Biden Harris administration took over.

All I see is the truth when I go out shopping and trying to pay bills just like most everybody else in this country is.

Can people really be in such a bubble that they don't even know about the other side's view? That's only possible in a cult, where you live on a farm with no family, no friends, no coworkers and no access to outside information.
One has to actively and deliberately deny the available information. I don't think Hanlon's Razor is applicable for the vast majority of Trump voters.

Ridiculous article written by a loony who thinks he figured out the real reason why Kamala lost! He is horribly wrong! IMO

All I am going to say...

He is putting the cart before the donkey! (I know I am implying it differently)

Donkey = Dem's actual candidate (Kamala)
The Cart = the media

The media cannot drive the candidate - the candidate actually pulls the media behind her whether the media (the cart) got round wheels or square ones

Round wheels = The liberal media facilitating her
Square wheel = The conservative media working against her

Put the blame where it belongs and it is not the media! A real voice can cut through all the junk.

I am going to just leave it at that unless you want a little bit more clarification.
