Check the Matsya Purana. It has been quoted from that Purana by Ramanuja and Yamuna Muni. Adi Shankara has also accepted this classification. Besides, Shiva Puranas do contradict Vedas, so that's why they are Tamasic.2. Some Vaishnava Puranas classify themselves as Sattvic and Shaiva Puranas as Tamasic. No such classification is found in non-Vaishnava Puranas.
1) Ramanuja, Yamuna and countless others have quoted the Padma Purana as well as Matsya Purana to support the 3 guna classification.Classification of Purana in three Guna-s is an interpolation made by Vaishnawa Groups otherwise such classification would have been mentioned in Itihasa and some primary Vaishnawa Purana-s like Bhagavata or Vishnu.
The importance of the Trimurti concept (Trimurti - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) has been independently verified by me using the Chaldean Hebrew Numerological method of analysis (Numerology Help: The Chaldean-Hebrew Kabala Numerical Alphabet) which shows that it encapsulates the entirety of Nature from the Hindu perspective (I used this method because the Jewish people were also guided by Sri Krishna through Moses).Classification of Purana in three Guna-s is an interpolation made by Vaishnawa Groups otherwise such classification would have been mentioned in Itihasa and some primary Vaishnawa Purana-s like Bhagavata or Vishnu.
There are also Brahmanists, and countless other lesser religions within Hinduism. Is this our version of Sunni v Shia but with no bloodshed?
Existence of Vaishnavs and Shaivates has always confused me.

In my family my wife does Puja to Shiva & Krishna, My Mother to Lakshmi & Durga, My Father to Ram, Hanuman and Shiva, My Brother to Ganesh, Krishna and Murugan, My sister in Law is Arya samaji but she does Puja to all Deva and Devi, and I read only Hindu texts. We all do Puja to Shiva at Shivratri, Ram and Sita in Diwali, everyone does puja to Sat Narayan, we all go to Shiva Temple, Krishna temple and Devi Mandir. We all respect Buddha, my mother has a Jesus statue, my Son (2 yo) is a Atheist.
Now who is Shaiva, who is Vaishnava, who is Astika, Who is Tamasic, Who is Satvic?
Very Fijian of you.
Yes, Satya, I tend to forget that, because most of the immigrants here from Fiji are Indian Fijian. We have 2 temples in my city, and there are at least 2, maybe more in Vancouver, run by Indian Fijians.
I was like that once. So I looked to see if a God truly exists and if so the Nature and a name for that God. Now I do not worship any other gods other than Sri Krishna. And I do so only through following a truth path for that is what led me to this God who does not ask to be worshipped by any means other than the worship of truth. Your family members are all worshipping the gods that are right for them; you are doing the right thing in studying texts; I am doing my own thing in worshipping truth. Your son will make his own decision when the time comes. Each person is therefore satisfied with his or her outcome. The True Creator and Preserver God will decide what to do with each one of us.So, do you mean that my Family is not worshiping the One True God???, or are they worshiping wrong "Gods", And as i don't believe in "God", does it mean am i a Atheist, like my son??
