The Sum of Awe
Brought to you by the moment that spacetime began.
If there ever comes a solid definition of "you" then that is not only evidence of the soul, but that IS the soul.

And perhaps a subtle redirection...
is the soul solid, liquid or gas?
If none of the above...then it might be a form of pure energy.
Is it then required to move at the speed of light?
Can the soul have a sense of proximity?
Do these questions help?

All this new-agey blather really is apalling.
You seem to be trying to sound knowing and scientific when you are not. The definition of energy I was responding to was false and inadequate in a scientific sense quite apart from any spiritual overtones. Do some research.Cassiopia, you cannot just claim the definition of energy is false because it doesn't work with your beliefs. Actually what should be done is labeling the beliefs false and finding some that do not require to call facts incorrect. I don't see how energy could predate matter when matter and energy go hand and hand.
I don't share your beliefs on this topic, and yes I do believe in reincarnation. It was good up to this word.
Mind and emotion as one....the soul.
But there seems to rules about occupation.
Your body is your own.
Your thoughts and feelings are shielded.
No one will know what you think or feel, until you write it down or
speak of such things.
Death changes the scheme of things.
You are no longer shielded.
You came into this world naked...you leave this world naked.
Occupy another body?....reincarnation?
I haven't ruled it out.
But it seems unlikely.
Try looking at what I actually said and perhaps combine that with a check in the dictionary. So essence is not a substance, just a description of something. Why are you treating it as a substance or object? Chairness is not a substance. People merely agree what attributes define chairs.
Pot. Kettle. Black. Talk about mumbo jumbo! Do some serious reading about particle physics and the many theories that go with it and then get back to me. "There has always been something that posessed energy, if only photons early on.." And you accuse me of drivel??This is inaccurate. There has always been something that posessed the energy, if only photons very early on. Please don't fall prey to new age mumbo-jumbo.
<drivel snipped>
I believe because I do.Why believe it before it has been verified? Do we now have cosmological mysticism to go with that dreadful quantum mysticism?
There is no such thing as pure energy. Energy is just a situation that objects find themselves in.
All this new-agey blather really is apalling.
Not quite as bad a your ignorance of the science you are tying to use to refute other arguments. It's really gotten out of control, hasn't it.

Wiki is your friend. Look up particle physics and the big bang for starters. In the big bang take note of what the state of the universe was in the first few milliseconds. Then look deeper into particle physics. So can you describe what pure energy is, scientist?
The idea of a soul was probably simply invented to avoid the harsh truth of death being permanent. In reality I suspect our consciousness is simply a process, something continuously generated by the interactions within our brains. Once we die it stops being generated.

From a another thread moments ago...I quote myself.
I prefer to look around me and consider the possible causes.
The stars above...the earth beneath my feet....
The extreme interaction of chemistry and life.
I say, it is altogether unreasonable to NOT believe in Higher Powers.
I call that Higher Power the Almighty.
In the scheme of superlatives....Someone is top of the line life form.
To do that, He would be Spirit.
There are billions of copies of a learning device on this planet.
That tool signifies the Toolmaker.
That such things will never meet is unreasonable.
We shall meet our Maker....each one of us.
(end quote)
It does seem odd...all this 'generation'....only to have it sink into dust.
And nothing comes of it?
So many copies and no survivors?
I think it more likely, the will to live is greater.
The one desire to stand up will be there waiting for you....
as you surrender your last breath.
I suggest you go for it.
Some thoughtful preparation might be required.
So no one believes in pure energy?
Energy does not equal mass(x) the velocity of light squared?
Mass cannot be converted to energy?
No such thing as a nuke?
So then you prefer to think all energy is contained in some mass....somewhere?
Then for you spiritual life is not a possibility.
God would need a body to exist....same as we do.
And when your body fails.....so too your soul?
Not for me.
I believe in the afterlife.
With e=mc2, the energy released winds up in something: a beta particle, a positron, an alpha particle, a nuclear fragment, a photon.
Your beliefs do count with other people unless you can provide evidence that they are accurate.
It's a misconception that energy must have a material form.
It wouldn't be energy if it was so.
