The warmongers at the European Union

I don't get your fascination with that maniac, why do you think he is so fantastic?
I don't think he's "so fantastic", but neither is Biden or Trump, in my view.

Take a step back and think .. who presents the greatest threat to the world, a nation with
around 800 military bases all over the world, or a nation with bases only in their own nation?

Would it be acceptable for Russia to form an alliance with say Mexico, and put their bases there?
Of course not!

Similarly, it is not acceptable for Russia to have Nato bases in what was formerly Greater Russia.
How dare Putin challenge NATO?
..so nothing to do with "evil Russia" or democracy .. just simple common sense .. survival.

Clearly? As to any islands off a mainland thus belonging to the nearest mainland nation? Try that all around the world then. And who gave the islands to Spain? Spain was an imperialistic/colonising nation just as many were in the past - and just as much with no rights to taking ownership of anything.

You're right.
Our neighbors are the Maltese.
How dared they become an independent republic!
Whenever I meet a Maltese person, I tell them. Shame on you.
You should have remained within the glorious British Empire.

;)

It already happened.
Russia tried to install a military base in Cuba.
The Americans said no.

You won't find me defending British colonisation so try something else. :p
You just did.

However... what bothered me about Thatcher was not the Falklands War.
After all... that helped undo the dictatorship in Argentina.

What bothered me is her hypocrisy.
She used to preach that the State had no money and they needed to cut on anything, but when it came to the war, the money magically reappeared.
I detest liars. And anti-socialist deceivers. ;)

You missed my point.
I said - we need to listen to Putin's claim.
Just like we could listen to Argentina's claims. They are quiet but they are not happy about it.;)

Not so. They happened to be in the possession of the UK at the time, so why would I favour one side over another - apart from the fact that Brits died in this business.

Yeah, and it also probably helped her stay in office.

As I've mentioned before, not someone who I had any respect for. Shame I wasn't in the UK when she left office.

So we can simply forget the 1992 agreement as to Ukraine being a sovereign nation and just let Putin do as he pleases (short memory perhaps but also despicable) - because he seemingly feels threatened, but where it is more about annexing more land, as he does elsewhere.

Skanky Old Mongrel!
You know...Putin is a gentleman that showed his concern towards Europe's safety.

Honestly I don't think the American Democratic Party has ever given a damn about peace in Europe. :)

And by the way....the slogan "Make peace through war" is equivalent to the slogan "Lose weight by eating lard"
:)
I believe that if Putin wins Ukraine he'll pick his next victim, and then the next until the Soviet Socialist Republique is rebuilt. That would need to include Poland and East Germany.
What makes you think people like me are wrong?

You're wrong because in 2001 Putin went to Germany and told the Bundestag: the Cold War is over. In perfect German.

He is really a gentleman and he is one of the most moderate politicians in Russia.

Ukraine didn't respect the Minsk Agreements...which makes her credibility below zero.

That is exactly why you need to listen to his interview.
He will sign!

So you would be for giving Gibraltar back to Spain?
Probably. I would certainly like to see Ireland reunited. As to all the various islands and bits of land - who knows - given it seems just as easy to flood them with appropriate language speakers - like Eastern Ukraine - or as them being a separate nation so neither side gets such. I don't have any preferences, given I am not the one living in such places.

Too many "armchair Brits", still thinking that UK is a major power .. like Boris..
I would say at this point, we should "mind our own business" .. too many Eastern Europeans
are being slaughtered for the political ambitions of others.

If Europe was poor and Russia wealthy, I wonder how many people would have voted for Europe/NATO
in Ukraine?

It's an illusion .. Europe has few resources compared to Russia .. their wealth cannot be and IS not
sustainable.

..so fear .. despite the fact that Russia was an ally in WWII :expressionless:

I tend to think that there will be a greater danger emerging
i.e. European Nationalism

..and the US is already there .. they have their Nationalist leader back with a vengeance!

It's undeniable that at the European Union there are people who wants us Europeans to be at war against Russia.

They are technocratic élites who eat caviar and sip champagne (the expensive one) and couldn't care less about peace.
They just want war, war, war.
They demand that other people fight, while they remain warm, safe and sound in their luxurious mansions.

I would like to tell these guys: you don't belong in the EU. You don't even belong in Europe.
Your words insult and deface the Constitutions of Germany, Italy and many other countries of the Union, which condemn and repudiate war and the acts of war like sending weapons meant to attack other countries.

And the patriots of Europe will not rest until these people abandon the EU institutions.
May I change the thread Title
