Ooooh, just my cup a tea! Apparently I saw him live at least twice since I have two programmes to confirm this - along with programmes for Dave Brubeck, the MJQ, Ornette Coleman, Dizzy Gillespie, and many others no doubt. No dates on the programmes but I suspect late 1960s or early 1970s - great times. :D

Wow, I must say, wow!!

Monk, Coleman (especially) and Gillespie are some of my favorites (along with my hero Dolphy). What where the shows like?

(well, not that there is any chance they wouldn't be incredible, but still  )

Long time ago, but I was obviously into them all then. :musicnotes: They must have been terrific since I tried to see all the visiting greats of the time. I also bought many LPs - Coltrane, Davis, and Parker possibly being my favourites. I think I saw either Freddie Hubbard or Lee Morgan perhaps, and Sonny Rollins, and the Polish MJQ - both the last two at Ronnie Scott's, where I had a membership for perhaps a year before I moved out of London. Saw many Blues artists too when they came over - Sleepy John Estes, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, etc.

Wish I could have a time machine to re-experience those days - but still have many LPs bought then.

And of course I didn't neglect all the Prog Rock and Folk areas either - the Nice, ELP, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Van de Graaf Generator, Bonzo Dog, King Crimson, Fotheringay, Alexis Korner, and the Yardbirds - as I've mentioned elsewhere. One was kept very busy in those days trying to fit it all in. :D

The Nice, ELP, Van Der Graaf Generator, Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah and King Crimson get a lot of respect from me :D Do you like Zappa?

Right now, feeling in a real devotional mood. Even when I used to be a hard-atheist (a few years ago), I was still profoundly moved by his devotional music :hearteyecat: (it probably makes sense though, when I was listening to legendary Indian classical dudes like Ravi Shankar when I was 15, lol)

Oh yes, but I haven't got so much - Hot Rats of course. So much from around then - Hawkwind, Soft machine, Can, Amon Duul, Faust - I was quite into a lot of different stuff then, but I think I stopped buying LPs in the mid 1970s at the latest. Many of these are on my random playlist on my computer, with little from modern times really. I've got most of the early LPs of VDGG and King Crimson. One of my favourites:

I love how the lyrics quote the famous Hermetic axiom (that's even in my profile) from the emerald tablet: "As above, so below" it's a subtle but reference I sure appreciate!

Very nice, especially the video - an album, and group, that I will have to look at - never heard of them before, but that's hardly unusual. :D :D
