I knew he was rather left-wing (communist) but I didn't know about his interest and writing for theatre, until a programme on radio last night by John Cooper Clarke (performance poet), and no doubt many might compare him to a Scottish/British version of Dylan - as to loving his voice or not as well as to his song output. One of my favourite singers, and even if one has to recognise the songs come from the past (recorded in the 1960s), I have no problems with any. One of these albums (two of my favourites of his) only cost me 50p when I bought it, and seemingly because of some defect, but an application of some suitable solvent soon saw it back to perfection.
