On the contrary Lew, I have spoken with so many religious people who have very little interest in their present life. Their only goal is to die and be with their gods. Go and have a look at web sites like 'Rapture Ready'. The people on there can't wait to be 'raptured' and openly say so.We have the thought that there is meaning in our life.
The atheist values life as we think this is pretty much it and want to make the most of it, be nice and caring and make life as enjoyable for everyone around us while we have the chance. We don't wait to die so we can be with a god, we don't value death or afterlife or heaven...we value LIFE NOW!Whereas an atheist views that their existance is a complete accident and theif life is purposeless.
It is the theist, not the atheist, that devalue life to such an insignificant occurrence that it is worthless, only Jesus or Allah or Muhammad matters and only heaven is the ultimate goal. This is so sad because people are actually killing for their gods and their heavens, destroying all that is beautiful in the name of fairy tales and lies.
There is nothing wrong in having faith Lew.........if that's what makes you happy. Just don't confuse it with "truth".And I am pretty sure without faith I would have the same as you. Being able to see something but see nothing more than what meets the eye.
