Theocracy

A theocracy is basically some human's version of God. The concept of God is authoritarian and dictatorial. It's a harmful idea.
Not all power is good power. Powers that protect equality and freedom for everyone while negating egocentric power is what's needed.
Most people I think are judged by their desirability, utility and their footprint in society. Any power that negates such human cruelty I am for.
A theocracy is corrupt humans acting as followers of a God, doing God's will. Nothing could be more egocentric as someone who thinks they are infallibly doing God's will.
Basically it's best to negate the cruelty of human nature by avoiding such egocentric power. No one needs a human version of God ruling over everybody.

Yes, the 'modern-day definition' of theocracy is: rule by clergy or clergy class.
However, that is Not the theocracy (God Rule) that Jesus promoted - Daniel 2:44
There is a BIG difference.
Jesus' view was Not a human version of a god ruling over everybody.
Rather, Jesus as King of God's theocratic Kingdom is No human's version.
Jesus, also as Prince of Peace will usher in global Peace on Earth among person's of goodwill.

Theocracy might be okay -- if you had reason to believe that it was God doing the ruling. So far, every theocracy that the human race has experienced was one in which God Himself was silent, but there were humans quite sure of what it was He wanted.

Anybody who would like that does not seem to me to be thinking very clearly at all.

The Baha'i Faith doesn't even allow its members to join political parties. How would a combination of democratic and theocratic rule work in a religion which you aren't allowed to even choose a side in debates?

I'm just curious how people here feel about theocracies. Would you prefer that your country had a state sponsored religion who's laws are structured around that religion?

I am confident that the ideal government would have to be a theocracy.

Yeah, that's theocracy. The Saudis do this now. I'm not a fan.

To me, that's as bad as a theocracy. I prefer a secular yet inclusive state. One that has and will maintain a line between religion and state.

This may be as big of a problem than just which God or Gods to be under, which can become a nasty issue by itself.

Absolutely not. I guess I'm a typical American. I really believe in freedom of religion. Plus you have to look at history -- as soon as a government gets controlled by religion, both the government and the religion suffer for it.

When mankind sits down to unite the Nations, I see that decision will be made.

It will not be up to any one religion, but humanity will have realised they need God's Laws renewed.
