There is no evidence for God, so why do you believe?

You don't know the Holy Spirit either. So that puts us on an equal playing field in that sense.
Sure I do, Already told you how He revealed the source of my hatred towards my Dad while reading the Bible as an example, hatred gone in a minute. He does this all the time, every morning when we open up the Bible and read it together here. So great

Don’t because correct interpretation about what?
That salvation is found in Jesus Christ and Him alone, that no one comes to the Father except through Him?
That you must be born again?
That’s the main test so let’s start there, which Christians disagree with that?
Most Christians will probably disagree with your interpretation of "born again".

What appears to happen with some fundamentalists quite often is that they have gone so far off the mark from what Christianity requires that to get back on track they have to have a major life changing event. They then make the error of assuming that everyone needs to go through that.

And we have gone over this and you only used the Ostrich Defense:

How would you test those beliefs to see whether they were valid or not? Just because you forgave someone is not very strong evidence at all.

Well, you all don’t seem to have victory over your lusts, a lot of hatred, anger and un forgiveness coming through the comments. I see comments like so happy not to be a Christian yet the comments are full of anger and resentment. Doesn’t sound like freedom to me. Then there’s the hopelessness of what happens after you die, I had all that misery for the first part of my life, no thanks.

I am willing to forgive anyone. But if one keeps performing the same wrongs it is hard to do so. And you may be projecting more than just a little bit here.

And why is the fact that when you are dead that you are dead "hopelessness"? If anything as others have pointed out the "heaven" of Christians would eventually be come a hell that there is no escape from. If anyone has hopelessness that appears to be you.

You're responding to me as though this is the first time you've heard this, and that we haven't been going back and forth about it for dozens of pages now.

All of it. The list of differences between them all is pretty long.

"As believers debated the scriptures and sacraments, churches formed and split based on myriad biblical interpretations, ways of worship and organizational structures. From these debates, denominations such as the Presbyterians, Mennonites, Baptists and Quakers, among others, took root."
Why does Christianity have so many denominations?

What you’re saying is since there are different denominations then the Bible is at fault.
What I’m saying is the Bible is clear and men are at fault in their division or exalting their preferences and causing division.
I see your citations but if you’re not going to pick an example like some say you have to be baptized to be saved. I would ask what about the thief on the cross?

Your lust brother, you already told me about that and you don’t even see that. Then you say it appears I’m hopeless because I have eternal life and free. Ok well I see…

So do you. Unless you have go rid of your gonads you lust just as much as any other man. And no, you are not free. Your own religion tells you that is not the case.

No I don’t lust as much as any other man, I used to and viewing pornography etc. But I got delivered from that. Freedom to serve God is true freedom and not a slave to sin anymore.

You are only fooling yourself with that claim. You may not view pornography but that does not mean that you do not lust.

Temptations come and go, I walk in the Spirit now and don’t fulfill the lusts of the flesh. I didn’t have any defense before and now I do.
As I said, you still lust. Guess what Jesus said about that?

By the way, I don't go around making love to countless women either. Hmm, perhaps I should apply for sainthood.

All you need is love.

Trust me when I tell you that you're chasing your tail trying to reason with a Christian who acts like they're morally superior to you. Now, the said Christian will insist that's not what they think, but their pious remarks and accusations against you prove otherwise.

Being tempted is not lusting, lusting would be actively looking at pornography and giving yourself over to the temptation.
I take every thought captive and use the Word of God to defeat Satanic attacks.

I didn’t say I was the only one who understands Scripture.

You and other atheists and skeptics haven’t proven or shown you understand the Scriptures.

There are 45k different sects and denominations globally, and again you as a Christian ought to know what these differences are, as you are the one who attaches significance to them. I merely note that they do not support your assertion the bible is a reliable source.

I don't believe in demons or deities, and my thoughts are my own, the good and the bad.

Being tempted is not lusting, lusting would be actively looking at pornography and giving yourself over to the temptation.

You may want to consult a dictionary on this one again.

Lust
verb
gerund or present participle: lusting
  1. have strong sexual desire for someone.
As for porn, like abortion and gay sex, no one is obligated to have anything to do with it if they don't want to, and as long as only consenting adults are involved, well more power to your elbow...so to speak..:D:eek:

Lust is a desire, it need not be harmful of course, if no one ever gave in to lust there wouldn't be nearly 8 billion of us. I have not noticed atheists posts to contain any hatred or anger per se, nor have I noticed them to be indicative of being unforgiving, though I doubt atheists are obsessed with it though, in the way some theists are. Care to quote a few examples?

I see comments like so happy not to be a Christian yet the comments are full of anger and resentment.

I am dubious, you seem to be projecting.

Doesn’t sound like freedom to me.

That's hardly a surprise as you subjectively view freedom as synonymous with your own religious beliefs, what one person finds freeing another might find terrifying.

Then there’s the hopelessness of what happens after you die, I had all that misery for the first part of my life, no thanks.

Your funeral? I have decided not to have one, since I have no children, and wouldn't want my step grandchildren subjected to this, or my nephews and niece. I am not aware of any evidence anything else will happen, and I wan not alive for billions of years before i was born, it didn't seem hopeless at all, in fact it left no impression whatsoever. I think your emotional attachment to these ideas is a necessary component of your bias in favour of them, this is true of many theists I have encountered.

However, how comforting one finds a belief has little relevance to its validity. In fact the more comforting one finds it, the more indicative one might be biased in its favour.
