I've never had a wallet or a phone fall out of my pockets while sitting in a car. Loose change perhaps, but never a wallet or a phone.
Maybe switch from a kilt to Levis?

Mine are trained, they empty themselves. Both ends, sometimes.
I have cats, for front end they use the fireside rug or the side of my bed. Ideal place for a welcoming foot full of cat vomit when getting out of bed.
