For Kemetics, we love ancient Egypt and the Egyptian gods are still there, they still want people to worship them. Seriously.

I think it's just that the Danelaw left a bad taste in the mouth of the Anglo-Saxons.Not necessarily the "Norse" Gods, but yes, people have heard of the Vikings. Although they do not acknowledge their religion as a "real" religion. And most of the modern interpretation of Vikings is that they were ruthless killers and raiders, and their favourite saying was "Let's go rape and pillage." While there were Vikings raids, the average Viking wasn't ruthless at all. Chances are he was a farmer. Berserkers, however, are a whole different thing
Isn't calling Roman and Greek religion "fake" a lot like what you complain Christians do to you?Anyway, my point is that people treat the Germanic religions as they treat Roman and Greek Paganism. A "mythology", a "fake" religion. What get's me is that they call it mythology while they don't call other religions mythology.
And that connection was lost because of Christianity, right? It was revived because certain people wanted to regain their ancient culture and restore the connection to their Pagan ancestors.

It's like I said before: the modern incarnations of Paganism are responses to Christianity. In that sense, they're dependent on Christianity.
Well that isn't something unique really. Same could be said for Jainism for example, most people don't have that type of exposure. Even with mainstream religions like Christianity I don't know what the difference is between a Methodist and a Anglican and a Protestant. Most people know little to nothing about Islam in America, but that really doesn't bother me.'Except I'm referring to "Hey I'm miffed someone hasn't heard of my religion!"

Also who hasn't heard of Pagans? At least in a superficial way?
Lots of people invent lies and misinformation about Pagans though like that we're Satan worshippers, or that we sacrifice children, etc.

Thanks 9-10ths
This is a lingering concern I have had with paganism. It is a shame because logically Christian is historically less European (than paganism), but it is intact.
Do you mean to say that Christianity is predated by paganism in Europe and yet paganism was the one to fall? Christianity is intact because paganism was unable to resist it militarily or ideologically.
