Tim Walz to be VP

By the way, I just received an email from J Street with the subject: Mazel Tov Tim Walz. It begins ...

J Street is all in with Kamala Harris – and we’re thrilled with the reported selection of Tim Walz as her running mate.
As a J Street endorsee from his time in the House, we know Walz well. With his good humor and fighting spirit, he’ll be a powerful, energizing messenger in the fight to protect democracy and defeat the Trump-Vance ticket.

Works for me.

Is it a good decision? Or is it a bad decision?

I don't think it is a bad decision. I think he will help Harris win the Presidency, but right now I don't think I know enough about him.

What do you think?
Shapiro was probably the best choice because Harris needs PA to win the presidency but I expect the Hamas loving wing of the dem party would not be pleased. If Minnesota goes Trump the dems have lost no matter who her VP is. Now will Harris have some interviews and press conferences to talk about her ideas?

^ weird -- leave it to the Trumpettes to denigrate "the Hamas loving wing of the dem party"

Whoever she chose would've been fine with me, though I've really liked what I've learned about him in recent weeks. They'll make a great team.

Well, I know that it is worse than you know. In fact your brain has been placed in a vat to harvest your brain waves. And if you deny that, only means that you have fallen for the propaganda fet to you.
So that is the truth and you are a part of the evil forces, if you deny that. ;)
I won't let anyone dupe me.
Especially those who tell me that it is a coincidence that Biden withdrew few days after the Trump's attempted murder.

You'd rather have someone as VP who volunteered to serve a foreign army but not the US army? Shapiro has done a lot for...Israel! I'd never vote for Harris but I'm relieved it wasn't Shapiro.

That is one of the interesting things in this process. It really does seem that this choice was made personally by Harris. Usually these things are decided more by consultant's and party insiders, but it seems that Harris was more involved this time.

On the other hand I get the sense that J.D. Vance was chosen by people like Tucker Carlson and Donny Jr. And I get the sense that Trump is regretting that choice, but is too embarrassed to make a change at this stage so he is stuck.

I have a different perception of the way the two presidential candidates selected their VP. Donald Trump has advisers, but he tends to ignore them, often preferring to let his gut feelings override their advice. That's why he ends up with so many bad hires and subordinates who fail to do what he tells them to do. He makes capricious decisions, and JD Vance was the one that appealed most to his gut. He liked the way Vance looked and the way he expressed his loyalty, even after having run an election campaign in which he trashed Trump himself. That showed Trump that Vance could be easily manipulated--not anything like the disloyal Mike Pence. That was the quality he was looking for.

The Harris campaign had little time to vet a VP candidate, but they went about it the traditional way--by considering lots of candidates and using a dedicated team to sort through their strengths and weaknesses. In the end, Harris made a gut decision, just like Trump did, but her gut was better informed than Trump's. What makes her presidential material is that she understands that governing is a process, not just a gut decision. She did not know Walz as well as she knew Shapiro, but she ended up going with the person she thought would make the best candidate. Unlike Trump, she wasn't looking for a sycophant to be her running mate. She was looking for the right mixture of qualifications.

Meanwhile ...

The New Republic, noting that Trump Is Already Losing It ..., quotes Trump:

“He’ll unleash HELL ON EARTH and open our borders to the worst criminals imaginable,” the email read. “He’ll rubber stamp Kamla’s [sic] GREEN NEW SCAM and light TRILLIONS of dollars on fire. But the real killer: he’s already pulled in MILLIONS in dirty cash to buy the White House!”

Apparently, if we are to take Trump's tirade seriously, we are faced with

DEI Harris & HELL ON EARTH Walz versus MAGA/Project-2025 and a Weird Guy. Whatever should we do?

I need to confirm this, but I think I just heard Vance say ...

So, we have Harris, who listened to the Hamas wing of her own party, ...

If so, that is disgusting beyond words.

When they go weird, we go Walz!

It seems a bit surprising. He didn't seem to be a frontrunner for most of the search, and he's not from a battleground state. I'll have to trust that the group that picked him knows what they're doing. From the tiny bit I know about him, he seems smart and good on the issues; hopefully he'll give her the boost she needs to win.
