I was inspired from a previous thread and so decided to ask how people thought of this video. She is a transwomen Blair white talking about trans issues and why trans people are struggling for acceptence today.

Thoughts?

Can you give me a quick rundown of the video's argument? I don't tend to click on unkown Youtube creator. I'd hate for a crank or a bigot to make money and trafic off this sort of exposure.

I've heard Blair White is a bigot but I don't know...never watched her videos or anything.

It's about how the speaker, who is transgender, feels about how the gay rights movement, and talk about gay marriage, et cetera are a bit more accepted (either people agree, disagree, or don't care) but with transgender issues people have extreme feelings about it even today.

I looked it up on youtube itself if you wanted to watch it from that site.

As for my comment, @tarasan, as a gay woman I'm glad there is some level of tolerance (I wouldn't say acceptance as a whole) of gay marriage and issues around that. But I agree with the woman in the video, transgender issues isn't at that point. Mainly, it's because of ignorance of transgenderism (and homosexuality, and I'd venture to say heterosexuality even). I don't believe the ignorance will change because of people's religious points of view, but I think the idea should be respect and acceptance regardless of differing views.

Oh, Blaire White. Yeah, she’s considered a bigot and a “token trans.”
At least among the left (including trans individuals) that I pal around with.
Since I’m not Trans myself I feel it inappropriate to comment one way or the other.

She's not. Just more conservative. She is annoying and says stupid crap a lot, however. She spends most of her time arguing with and insulting other trans people on Twitter and YouTube, I've noticed. She also goes out of her way to smear and misrepresent people. She's just another obnoxious fame whore talking out of her *** on social media, really. She's just some privileged, sheltered kid who had someone else pay for her surgeries and crap, and then pretends to be an expert when she hasn't a clue what life is really like.

Many trans people agree with her views on the trans community as it is now, but as a person, she's not that great.

Then doctors and therapist will agree for anyone to have surgery and treatment just because they want to be like others...

I never heard such ..ah.. nonsense.

I've never been a fan of Blair White. I think she has some outrageous takes. I don't 100% agree with her now. But she makes some valid points. I know many trans people who are just normal people. The number of trans people living in stealth is much higher than anyone would ever guess. Especially if you live in a city I would put money down that you know at least 1 trans person living in stealth.

But there is also a generalized hard left movement with usually very young people. Trans people have become a sort of beacon but it extends beyond that. There is discourse within the trans community about non-binary people and people who are trans but without any sort of gender dysphoria.

But mostly I see conservatives consuming and spreading media that is either outliers or misrepresentations of trans goals. And the sports thing was never super high on anyone's list that I was aware of. It certainly was never on my list. Hell I wouldn't even care if we set it up to be separated by sex instead of gender.

Though the Olympics have allowed trans athletes for decades I believe. Zero gold medals won by trans athletes. 13 states already allow trans athletes. So far we only have 2 trans athletes that have won state championships. One trans woman who then went on to loose a regional championship to a cis woman and a trans man who was forced to wrestle on the girls team.

The only world record held by a trans woman (and it was removed btw) was in powerlifting by a trans woman who transitioned well into adulthood. Also they have retired as they suffered an injury that was indirectly caused by trying to lift heavy weights after transitioning.

The reason there is so much animosity and hate is for the same reason why hate crimes increased in major cities when gay marriage was legalized. They see the change happening and want to attack it while they still have a leg to stand on. Are there changes the trans community could make about messaging? Yeah. For sure. Would that change the minds of people that already hate trans people? No.

Meet me in the middle says the unfair man. You take a step forward. They take a step back. Meet me in the middle says the unfair man.

I don't think we should assume to know anything about someone else just because they are transgendered.
They are numerous individuals who happen to have one thing in common.

We should treat everyone decently. When/where we find other people who are not treating other people with an equal level of decency we should be outraged by that.
I don't have to accept or agree with someone else's views in order to treat them with the same decency as everyone/anyone else.

Um...
What is cosmetic surgery?
It is often surgery so that people like you. How many women do you see like this:

That is an optional surgery. Transgenderism does not appear to fit into the same category.

To anyone saying transgenders are just looking for attention look up the rates in which we are discriminated against...first person I came out to tried to hit me. I know transgender people who are homeless because their parents kicked them out. My family doesn't approve of me being trans and I've lost friends. Why would I be still be transgender if it was just for attention?

I agree.
However my question was specifically addressed to the post that claimed:

Your reply is about being LIKED by others.
IMO a completely different subset.

Trans women, especially poor ones, are treated as subhuman in many cases, too.

Cosmetic surgery???
Yes, cosmetic surgery is "surgery for no other reason than to look like everyone else" is called.
Happens quite a lot, actually.

Not all cosmetic surgery is the Hollywood made famous super sized T & A...

I was actually quite surprised you have never heard of cosmetic surgery.
I mean, it has been around since at least the 1400's
