Trends in Porn Viewing

"There’s one thing that people from all over the world like to enjoy: porn. With 2016 having wrapped up, leading pornography site Pornhub released its annual report on Thursday. And oh boy, did it reveal quite a bit about global smutty interests.

Over the course of 2016, the world consumed a whopping 191,625,000 days of porn on Pornhub. That translates to 5,246 centuries worth of material. The United States accounted for the most porn watched per capita, with Iceland, the United Kingdom, Canada, and New Zealand rounding out the rest of the top five in that category. In the U.S., the most searched term of the year was lesbian, with step-mom, milf, teen, and step-sister not far behind. But beyond just those broad statistics, Pornhub’s year in review contains a litany of other data about the popular porn trends of 2016, includin
g breakdowns of porn searches by individual country, and an examination of viewership by gender.

One of the more interesting trends in the data was that, in the United States specifically, porn searches for popular video game Overwatch skyrocketed up the list. It went for nonexistence to beat out 452 other categories, arriving near the top of the list by the end of the year.

But perhaps the most notable map in the report is the one that shows what everyone was looking for country by country. North America appears to be in just about unanimous agreement that lesbian porn is the way to go, while a significant portion of South America — along with a host of other countries, like Russia, France, and Spain — preferred anal.

I don't understand the popularity of lesbian porn. Personally, I only like lesbian porn if one (or more) of the ladies has a penis, but that's just me.

Well, crap.......no wonder I got almost no hits on my search terms. "bowling balls and rubber bands" I thought surly others must see the sensuality there!

I am amazed that in the U.S. "step mom" beat "lesbian". And "step sister" came close.

You guys got some issues to work out.o_O

(excuse me while I go search "Lesbian Step Mom Does Sexy Step Sister")

Hmmm . . . . .. ."Sheep" is conspicuously absent from "The Most Searched For Terms."

I don't think it has anything to do with religion, really. We're just a sexual species. Porn has likely existed since we started depicting things.
Well, then again Utah views more porn than any other state, and it is largely a Mormon state, and they keep trying to ban it only to find out people are going to such ridiculous lengths as checking into hotel rooms to watch it, and Utah citizens are watching it more than the citizens of other states. Religion is not the only issue, but when you shame sex, make it dirty, and try to control it, it does add incentive to use more discreet methods, such as online pornography.

Lesbian Porn for me is better than straight porn, lesbian porn can get rough at times. But I have this strange attitude of seeing men performing various acts on women which tends to bother me by the smacking sounds, Lesbian porn is more exciting where I enjoy seeing the tongues and the seduction. I tend to mute the sound or put in electro music.

I rather suspect that if religion hadn't scared our collective willies into flaccid submission, we would have a lot less need for porn.

That is impossible to say for the least, Porn is something that drives us sexually, it can be addicting but not to addicting. Religion does not really do anything even though some religions such as Mormonism and Christianity restrains the individual morally. But at times religion does not really work for the individual but instead it makes things worse for the individual, all of us have an animalistic nature within us, we cannot really follow something that tends to oppress the individual with strict moral dogma. I myself am sexually wild, I am single and I am a teenager myself, I think Porn can be healthy such as releasing things that you want to get out and to feel better. Some people such as myself have a dark side towards many sexual things which I view to be normal, but as much as I have a liking for the darker tastes within Porn and Sex I prefer to keep that to myself. At times I occasionally might make a few kinky jokes to some of my friends but that is about it for me.

But, but, but then how can you enjoy porn for how comically bad it is?:p
Some people such as myself have a dark side towards many sexual things
When it comes to sex and sexuality, there is no such thing as a "dark side." Only things that make up the complicated multifaceted gem that is human sexuality, and then those things like rape that aren't dark, but are just cruel and horrible.

Assuming 200,000,000 days/year total and around 2,000,000,000 adults in the world with access to the Internet that would translate to 1/10 of a day per person per year, or about 2.4 hours per year for the average adult around the world.

Assuming there are 5 billion adults in the world, that would come out to 1/25 of a day
You probably don't want to assume all viewers are adults. I'm sure Pornhub themselves when putting this together were more than aware that asking "are you 18 or older?" is no real safe guard against "underaged" viewing.
You also have to wonder how exactly they measured that, because it was likely measured by number of views, not completely finished watching. I would imagine a huge, huge chunk of the viewing are men watching long enough to have some masturbation material, ending up watching the first few minutes of a video, and don't watch the other 20 or so minutes.

Not sure....I'm sure it's possible to track whether the entire video was watched. You have an excellent point though.
