That's what I mean by "trivializing" the reality of bigotry and racism. I find it completely distasteful and unprogressive.

I don't think it trivializes it, I think we are just pointing out typical, common racist mind sets through humour, by making fun of the people who think that way. If someone actually seriously thought like this, then we would take it 100% seriously.

I feel like just as much of an outsider in a room full of white people as I do in a room full of non-white people. Unfortunately, being awesome overshadows racial considerations, and always separates you from the crowd. Incidentally, the idea that there is some type of overriding factors of whiteness which all white people share, and which makes them somehow homogenous, seems to be an idea, somewhat understandably, promulgated by non-white people. Stick a dozen random white people from various parts of the US together in a room, and what they have in common because of being white will likely amount to a pile of beans. To quote Shakespeare, "there are more types of white people, Horatio, than dreamt of in your philosophy."

That may be true, but all you straight people are DEFINITELY alike.

Breeders. smh

Well, you're pretty unique and special. I mean, for a white guy, you know.

Hey, look over here for a second!

Why do women generally have smaller feet than men?

Because it helps them to be closer to the kitchen sink.

.

.

.

Confession: I have extraordinary small feet, and I really do love to cook.

Well, you may be trying to do that, Horrorble, but me, I'm just trying to trivialize the suffering and deaths of millions of people worldwide. It's a hobby.

Next time if you want your act to be more credible, try to hide the personal grudge better, because it's all too apparent.

Do you need White Middle Class Woman to help you?

I did date a Punjabi man back in the day. And totally made out with an Egyptian guy at a party once.

That means I understand Punjabi Egyptian Arabs like you, right? And I can speak for you, right?

I think that more accurately describes what you tried to pull off here.

Whatever floats your boat in this one, Badran. I'm just calling the trivialization of actual racism by being "jokingly racist" just as how I see it. So, I juxtaposed it with a POE-like comment. If that rocks your boats, it got the job done in showing the extremities of the ridiculousness of being "jokingly racist".

I understand.

Personally, i'm just calling out BS.

I think that's reasonable. Thanks for explaining it, H.

Your beef is gone now? Well, that's a shocker!

I've heard the key to a happy and productive life is turning hobbies that you have a passion for into your career.

Surely, Sir, you cannot possibly be suggesting that the Noble-Minded™ M.V. is indulging himself in a mere grudge against me? Why that would imply he is not quite the Moral Hero™ I myself know him to be! Zounds, Sir, zounds! If you persist in your opinion, I shall have to do something drastic. Something very drastic. Something I don't want to do. Something like remove the ™ symbol from his many fine attributes!

2. What did I try to pull off here, when it can be easily argued that this thread is riddled with anti-color sentiment? What part of juxtaposing the two extremities don't you get, Badran?

Being "jokingly racist" is what keeps racist thinking in place and in existence. It doesn't do too much to address the realities of racialist perceptions. So, while it's all fun and dandy with sprouting Punjabi Arabs and drone attacks left and right under the veneer of "Games/Pics/Jokes/Stories", it does little to progressively address the actuality of racial realism and its perverseness.

So, instead of thinking that I was being factual in my postings directed to Emeritus Sunstone (which is probably what got you up in a jiffy), it would behoove you to understand what manner I am coming from as a colored person who, along with millions of other colored persons, do not find being "jokingly racist" helpful nor progressive. In fact, I find it to be counterintuitive.

But I personally think white people making fun of other white people is OK, but that's just me  these folks here understand they have white privilege and they would confront other white people about those issues as well in a serious discussion.
It's like when we make fun of the commonly derp things people say about women and feminism.

The day I agree with you that you speak, not just for yourself, but for millions of people of color, M.V. will be the day that dementia has stolen the last gasping shred of realism from me.

EDIT: So you can see how tense this gets when it goes back to a color-on-white statement (as my previous posts have proven), where as white-on-color postings are digressed or justified as "all in the name of humor". In other words: privilege.

Important note: none of this should be undermined to suggest that whites can't be the subjects of discrimination - when in reality they definitely can, even though many minority groups disagree and exclaim that whites can never be the subjects of discrimination or racism.

Hey MV, just speaking for myself, I was mocking my own demographic that includes white middle-class women of our own class privilege that unfairly dominates feminist thought as well as what dictates much of child-care customary practices and educational standards in our country.

Many people in my circle are unaware of how ridiculous they seem. I took on that caricature for the purpose of this thread as a joke. It was nothing personal against you. So I'm sorry if you took offense at some of the things I joked about.

I thought you accepted Horrorble's explanation?

First, more than half of the people who were having fun with this before you decided to come in were Arabs or at least partially Arabs.

Second, this is hardly such a hard concept to grasp. I don't buy that you weren't smart enough to see what was going on.

I wouldn't have any problem with it if i thought you were seriously offended or felt that this thread is "what keeps racist thinking in place and in existence".

But of course i don't think that this is where your posts were coming from.

You might as well use the thread and confess that you, too, have a penis. One that apparently works.

It works like a charm, apparently. Got pregnant the second month of trying. I'm a proud breeder, happy to be giving the world the gift of passing along my awesome genes.
