Trump Administration and the Press

Morning!

One thing that has me a bit on edge over the last few days is Trump's continued insistence that he is at war with the media. I am a bit concerned because I do not want his disdain to turn into censorship. Curious of what other people think of the topic.

I believe the media is overdue to be put in it's place. If Trump can do it that would be interesting to see.

That is one perspective. I am not excited about the government taking an active role in correcting the media. It is a dangerous prescience.

Perhaps all he needs to do is threaten to cut of some government money from reaching the hands of the "Media Moguls" . In which case he would simply be ending the governments active role. But maybe Ted Turner can do without the extra cash.

I really don't want gov. interference with the media.
However, I also want the media to utilize integrity more than 10% of the time.
If there could be policy to stop funding and denounce media outlets that spread falsehoods, I would be for that.

By no means do I want any sort of censorship, though.

Agree totally, but it is just what his mate Putin does. As do all totalitarian regimes, North Korea, Turkey, China, etc.
I just hope the US media is strong enough to stay independent and report what they see and mock any 'alternative facts' that come from the politburo.

Does that mean Fox News will be closed down.

So long as his role is just arguing with them, I find it entertaining.
But if this morphs into legislating censorship, let me know, will you?

Btw, I would like to see the elimination of gov funding of media, eg, NPR.
That's just wrong.

Trump has no integrity on this issue though. He claims that the media lies about him, then his press secretary gives his first official briefing and flat out lies about the numbers at his inauguration. Trump himself claimed that there were 1.5 million people there, which is just not true. I have not seen a more dishonest President in my lifetime, and he's only been in office a few days.

The President of the United States is very smart. He knows what to do about fake news. He is teaching us all about Trumpology, all in a one day course, in how to drain the swamp. George Soros cannot pay off everybody. He only can afford to pay those that he already has in his pocket.
And I believes that Soros is suffering with Dementia. It is because that he is beginning to be very careless with his money.

But, Trump encouraged fake news stories during the election. So, how do you explain that?

I can't find that on the internet. Only that he is saying it rained on his parade, not even saying that it caused less people to show up, but definitely opening the door that it may have affected the turnout. I I believe there is wisdom in the old saying "don't rain on my parade", because it tends to put a damper on things.

He seems very honest to me, but im sure there are elements out there in society, photoshopping and splicing words together to create lies against the man.

Trump is an egomaniac and wants to control everything. He wants his image to be liken to a god, and expects everyone to love him. If someone (media or otherwise) says something negative about him, he takes to blasting them with uncontrolled outbursts, only to back peddle hours later when his advisers try and reel him in. He has temper tantrums like a 3 year old child. He needs to put down the phone and forget Twitter, forget what the media says as he is only feeding the trolls right now, and focus on being POTUS.

Do you know who was a cool headed president? George W. Bush. That man did not care if anyone made fun of him. He would give protesters and anti-Bush signs a thumbs up as he drove by. He was always cracking jokes and ribbing people, and expected it in trade. His staff said that he was always trying to make people laugh and would intentionally act goofy.

But Bush will go down in history as the first president to have a shoe thrown at him.

About Madonna threats to blow up the White House was a staged performance. They had posted online part of what she had said, in order to get the President to bite. And once he has taken the bait, then they posted whole video. And so the President did not make a mistake at all.

Which he dodged like the Matrix! :D

He popped back up like "ya missed me b*tch!" The only thing that would have made it better was if he caught the shoe and threw it back at the SoB.

The Trump team have already picked a losing battle if they think that attacking media outlets for dissenting opinions is going to win them any points nationally or globally. We live in the age of the internet - all they are going to do is bolster those voices of dissension and strengthen the resistance to their positions.

How have people still not learned how diplomacy and democracy work?
