The US is already oil independent. Increasing the rate of production and becoming an exporter will only mean that those very limited resources will run out even faster.

Fracking is often used to rejuvenate old wells. The old fashioned method of only pumping out oil in reserves was quick and easy and left quite a bit of oil behind. Fracking releases a lot of that oil. In other words old "dried up" oil wells are now valuable again. They know that there is oil down there without doing any exploration. Once that is gone other methods of finding new reserves will be needed. And each new method tends to cost more money and extracts less and less oil.

Of course Trump is an immoral abuser. He does not care about what bills he leaves behind. He has shown this with the numerous businesses that he has bankrupted. He passed the debt on to others and that appears to be his method of governing too.

On the other hand, over the longer term this could encourage the return of some manufacturing to the US, and that would be a good thing. But that has already been happening under Biden, with the CHIPs act and other legislation. Which method is better? I don't know. But I think it wants further analysis -- and analysis is not a Trump strength.

Apparently when a civil servant starts his or her job they are sworn in swearing allegiance to the constitution nd the sitting president. Trump was targeting workers sworn in during the Obama administration and now the Biden administration because they didn't swear allegiance to him and were therefor disloyal.

That would be challenged in court, but it would depend if it is a MAGA judge or not. As we see there is a trend to judge shop for those judges who are favorable to a political side.

As for massive deportation, it would require a lot of money, equipment, facilities, and personel. It would also take Nazi level efficiency to organize and transport these human beings. I don't see MAGA having that level of competent leadership. I predict a sort of Keystone Cops who will be tripping over their shoelaces. And many state's AGs have already stated they will refuse to cooperate with any sort of illegal deportation by the Trump admnistration.

But the DOJ can't do it as long as Trump is predident due to DOJ policy, so the charges will stay alive after this term. I agree that this appears to be one of the major issues of contention revolving around Trump. Again, I have mixed feelings about this, since I was against NAFTA and saw Clinton's pushing other Democrats to support it as a betrayal of America's working class. The Republicans were all for it, but the Democrats should have put up more of a fight. Now, it's completely reversed, where the Democrats are fully in favor of free trade, while the Republicans are somewhat divided on it now.

It is a dicey issue on multiple levels. Americans get cheap goods from exploited overseas labor, so that's seen as a benefit to Americans. If tariffs are imposed, it will mean higher prices and greater hardships for American consumers. But then, it could also encourage more domestic manufacturing, which could lead to jobs and income growth to offset whatever price hikes might come about due to tariffs.

There's also national security and supply chain issues to consider.

I think this is one of those issues where Trump might just let state governments do their worst in this regard. The blue state governors seem to be entrenching themselves to protect their states from possible federal overreach. This appears that it may turn out to be a kind of procedural cold war between the states. People planning to make road trips across the U.S. may need to be mindful about what states they pass through.

Trump won't have any good ideas. He will just want Ukraine to agree to give up the land occupied by Russia. It will depend what aid package Biden arranges, and what Europe will do to make up the loss of American aid. Trump won't accomplish anything.

I've mentioned before that, whenever America elects a "crazy madman" to office, it seems to have a certain effect on the behavior of the rest of the world. Nixon and Reagan seemed to have that effect as well.

I could see some fast tracking of deportations of criminals in custody. But to deport anyone outside the current laws will be stopped by the courts. Now if republicans have the house and senate they could pass new laws that give Trump authority to deport anyone, including citizens. That would be challenged in court, but it would depend if it is a MAGA judge or not. As we see there is a trend to judge shop for those judges who are favorable to a political side.

As for massive deportation, it would require a lot of money, equipment, facilities, and personel. It would also take Nazi level efficiency to organize and transport these human beings. I don't see MAGA having that level of competent leadership. I predict a sort of Keystone Cops who will be tripping over their shoelaces. And many state's AGs have already stated they will refuse to cooperate with any sort of illegal deportation by the Trump admnistration.

I believe he suspected the driver of being an illegal immigrant, although I don't recall exactly. The thing was, he had him pulled over near a city park and a residential neighborhood which was mostly Hispanic, and as the people in the park saw him there, they approached him and started questioning the Border Patrol officer, asking what was he doing there and he wanted with the man he pulled over. It wasn't exactly a riot, but the crowd grew larger and obviously unhappy, so he called for backup. It seemed to end peacefully, but this was just one minor incident.

Of course, if there's mass deportations, how would that work? Just take them to the border and drop them off in Mexico? Mexico wouldn't be able to handle a sudden influx of millions of people. The whole thing is a massive load of codswallop.

I agree that this appears to be one of the major issues of contention revolving around Trump. Again, I have mixed feelings about this, since I was against NAFTA and saw Clinton's pushing other Democrats to support it as a betrayal of America's working class. The Republicans were all for it, but the Democrats should have put up more of a fight. Now, it's completely reversed, where the Democrats are fully in favor of free trade, while the Republicans are somewhat divided on it now.

It is a dicey issue on multiple levels. Americans get cheap goods from exploited overseas labor, so that's seen as a benefit to Americans. If tariffs are imposed, it will mean higher prices and greater hardships for American consumers. But then, it could also encourage more domestic manufacturing, which could lead to jobs and income growth to offset whatever price hikes might come about due to tariffs.

There's also national security and supply chain issues to consider.



I think this is one of those issues where Trump might just let state governments do their worst in this regard. The blue state governors seem to be entrenching themselves to protect their states from possible federal overreach. This appears that it may turn out to be a kind of procedural cold war between the states. People planning to make road trips across the U.S. may need to be mindful about what states they pass through.

Most of the Western world's populations are aging out without enough younger workers to support the elderly. This shortage will turn those economies into importers rather than exporters. China and Japan are crashing also from this problem.

The US has a fairly even number of working and non-working but birth rates are also dropping. NAFTA can mitigate this because of Mexico's large younger population. There will have to be increased co-operation across the border for the US to sustain its population. Additionally, we need to increase the number of immigration officers to process requests more quickly which will also reduce the number of undocumented immigrants coming across the border.
