Trump on Day 1: Begin deportation push, pardon Jan. 6 rioters and make his criminal cases vanish
Donald Trump has ambitious Day 1 plans for when he moves back into the White House in January.

The article details several items which Trump is expected to address from the get-go:
1. Make most of his criminal cases go away, at least the federal ones
I don't think Trump will ever actually go to prison. So, he'll probably be able to make this happen.
2. Pardon supporters who attacked the Capitol
That seems to be already in the cards, so I guess he'll get this one, too.
3. Dismantle the ‘deep state’ of government workers
What this will actually entail is removing job protections put in place for civil service workers. This was put in place to remove political control over the practical functions of government and leave such things in the hands of experienced, qualified professionals who work across multiple administrations and keep the government running during transitional periods. This could lead to difficulties, to say the least.
4. Impose tariffs on imported goods, especially those from China
This one I have mixed feelings about. I do recall times when it was the Democrats who supported blue-collar workers in what is now the rust belt, and it was the Republicans who were the big cheerleaders for free trade and ending tariffs. When NAFTA passed, the Republicans were unanimously for it, while it was the Democrats who were divided. Now, that seems to have reversed.
5. Roll back protections for transgender students
This will be one of many civil rights issues Trump will have to face if he plans on trying to do anything like this. There will be pushback. Unlike pardons, this is not something that he can make happen with a stroke of a pen.
6. Drill, drill, drill
"Drill, ye tarriers, drill! Drill, ye tarriers, drill!"
This will likely have a negative impact on the environment, although it remains to be seen if there will be any significant price reductions at the pump.
7. Settle the war between Russia and Ukraine
We shall see.
8. Begin mass deportations of migrants in the US
This is probably among the worst of all, since I don't imagine many of them will go quietly. This could be a severe problem.
