Juat so you know, death isn't the only thing you have to worry about. Long covid especially is nasty with brain fog, body aches, chronic fatigue, even lung scarring is possible. And we know covid is extremely contagious, amd even the young and healthy fall victim to it.
And we already have stats.
Trump rallies act as super-spreader events, lead to more than 700 COVID-19 deaths, study says | myfox8.com
Campaign rallies held by President Trump amid the coronavirus pandemic have led to more than 30,000 new COVID cases and more than 700 deaths, according to a recent study.

How does one support herd immunity exactly?... Herd immunity is the end destination no matter what rout we take to get there. Masks do slow the spread of the disease until we have an actual way to ease people into herd immunity, like with vaccines. Otherwise, people just needlessly get sick and die since we don't really have a way to fight the illness right now.

Do you mean you support people not caring about spreading the disease and ignoring measures to keep people safer until we have a way to fight the disease? I'm confused...
The same herd immunity we see in the wilds. Eventually the virus will run its course and yes there will be death but thats just how it is.

Its not that I like it, I just feel we need to realize we as a species are not going to be the top dogs all the time, and need to face it like every living creature does on this planet.

Those are *preventable* deaths if we simply take some basic measures like wearing masks.

Saying we should rely on herd immunity while there is no vaccine is simply condemning hundreds of thousands of people to death.

That, to me, is simply evil.

Its not that I like it, I just feel we need to realize we as a species are not going to be the top dogs all the time, and need to face it like every living creature does on this planet.

Sure. But when very simple measures can make a huge difference, it is simply heartless to not do them because of some slight inconvenience.

So... There is a difference. It can be managed. It doesn't have to be reckless, and if handled intelligently, deaths can be minimized.

Imagine 2 parents have kids. The end goal is for the kids to grow up (or in this case, for the population to achieve herd immunity). One parent says, "You're getting expensive. You're just going to have to grow up now!" And he kicks the kid on to the streets. Meanwhile, the other parent spends the time and money to raise the child and eases him into adulthood (like we would do with using masks and social distancing in waiting for a vaccine).

They both become adults (and achieve herd immunity). One is a functioning normal adult who winds up relatively healthy through the struggles of life, while the other grows up being scarred for life (with unnecessary covid deaths).

Herd immunity isn't an action, it's a state of being. Becoming an adult isn't an action, it's also a state of being. Let's be smart about the way we get there.

We do not have to face it, because humans are unlike every other living creature, so we can change our behaviors and make vaccines.

Why should we face it? If Americans weren't so f-ing selfish they could all wear masks and avoid social gatherings.
The main problem with Americans is that so many are selfish.

Whats patriotic and nonbigoted about wearing masks?

It's patriotic to care about the welfare of the entire nation and not just selfishly think about yourself. So wearing a mask to help protect those in society who have health issues is an act of patriotism. Why you would think that wearing a mask has anything at all to do with bigotry is completely beyond me.

If someone supports a selfish unpatriotic bigot for president they shouldn't be surprised when people conclude that they must be a selfish unpatriotic bigot as well.

With the current high spike it will probably be impossible to separate out those additional cases caused by the idiocy of the protesters. That does not mean that people will not die. The only "good" news is that these protesters are most likely to be their own victims. Well them and their parents or other people at risk that they visit after they pick up the virus too. Remember it spreads because there is a period of time where one is sick but does not feel it.

Many of those deaths can be avoided if we follow reasonable precautions until a vaccine is developed and distributed.

Of course it's not just deaths but also lost productivity and lost income due to the illness and a number of people disabled either temporarily or perhaps very long term by it.

But as far as deaths go:

So it's OK with you that a million more people die who would have been saved by being sensible until a vaccine comes on line next year.

I'm one of those older multiple risk people who you would callously consign to death because of your unwillingness to think about the welfare of others.

Your attitude is why we need a mask mandate backed up with a full bore police and if necessary national guard enforcement presence. If people don't do the right thing voluntarily force is needed.

Its infuriating they are spreading disease. They are making people sick. Amd all for a failed, bigoted, stupid, one-term and mandateless child of a "president" who lost. Ots disheartening theu care not for each other, nor for the democratic process of America that both installed removed their guy.
They too are sore loosers like their child emperor.
Do you equally call out protestors on the left?
