Trump is vowing a 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico and 10% on China from the 1st day he takes office. This is bad news for the world economy.

This is smart policy. Trump can seal the border, while by passing debate in Congress, since tariffs can be done by executive order. Most of the illegal immigrations, begin their journey in Mexico, but now, some is also coming in through Canada. Mexico could reduce the pass through in their country, by tightening their souther border. However, they had been pressured and bribed by Biden-Harris, DNC and Swamp to allow passage for millions. There is a now a new sheriff in town, and instead of getting bribed, they will be now fined, to offset the cost it places on the American tax payer. I would send the DNC the bill and have a class action suit on behalf of the tax payers who are not DNC.

Under Trump 1, Mexico was urged to protect their southern border and minimize the movement through Mexico. Illegal immigration became a a trickle to the US border, just before COVID, with "stay in Mexico", making this trickle Mexico's problem. It worked once and can work again. The tariff is also a way to force these countries to deal with their organized crime and drugs that come in, through Mexico, with the illegal immigrants. China is the world supplier of fentanyl and if they do not stop selling this poison, via Mexico, Trump will fine them with a tariff to offset the medical costs they created. Once profit is gone, these businesses will fold.

The value of selective tariffs comes from the fact that there is usually more than one country selling similar products. Mexico is not the only placed to buy bluejeans. Buyers, importers and wholesalers, will simply go to a new vender country, that also makes blue jeans, and that will cause the victims of the tariff; Mexico, to have to lower their price, or lose business, as venders shift buying patterns.

If blue jeans were a single source item, that only could be purchased from Mexico, the tariff would be a tax increase on Americans. But the world has multiple source redundancy, with some trade partners benefitting by lower tariffs. Trump can reduce the tariff on Viet Nam or Egypt, and the consumer will see not any change in price. While supply and demand in Mexico, with supply too heavy, will require they need to reduce price to attract buyers to get rid of the excessive inventory. Mexican Business will now apply pressure on their government. It will then be cheaper to seal their border and then Trump will take off the Tariff.

Yup. After Trump America will no longer be a super power. The world will move on and live in a world where America is too stupid and untrustable to do business with or depend on.

He is such a ******g idiot. First he pushes through essentially NAFTA 2, now he wants to blow it up! If you don't want illegals coming across your border, the obvious solution would be to improve the economies of the nations they are fleeing! That's what NAFTA is about you moron!

Canada's Prime Minister has called for a "First Ministers" Conference (meeting of the PM with all of the provinces' Premiers) to begin defensive strategies. This is essentially going to be bad for everybody -- but the people who will pay the most in cash are American consumers -- you know, the ones that voted for Trump so prices would come down.

Well done, American geniuses.
