A boost to re-election chances I dare say.
You may well see some of the same young people who are protesting Trump suddenly begin cheering for him.

Unless, of course, his investment team has been researching the profit potential of various ways to cash in on the knowledge that only POTUS has available. He'll do whatever is good for him. In this case I suspect it would be bad for him, so no, I expect not.
Won't matter if he doesn't plan to run for office again. He can't legalize it. He'd lose the evangelical base. But then again, their moral compass isn't the most reliable.
Trump needs to do things to expand his base if he's to have any chance at all in 2020. As it stands, he doesn't have enough support to win. So maybe he knows that, and maybe this is one of the early signs he's trying to expand his base.
I think he has already been a Democrat in the past.
Sure he was best buds with the Clintons when he was donating to them. Probably be best buds again after he is out of office. Maybe he is the Manchurian president. Planted by the Clintons to make the republicans as bad as possible.
They are all very good actors.
The Clintons?Planted by the Clintons to make the republicans as bad as possible.
I dont think Trump is Democrat or Republican. In reality, he is simply an opportunist that will take whichever name will benefit him the most.
I wondered that myself. However, considering they will just believe anything he says anyway, if he does it, then it's good in their minds too. Win-win.He can't legalize it. He'd lose the evangelical base. But then again, their moral compass isn't the most reliable.
But, currently, it is illegal federally, meaning that, technically, it is illegal in every state medically and recreationally. So, without action from the federal government, states will not have any authority (again technically speaking) to make it legal in any form.I largely agree about the morality.
The "big government" part is that the fed has over-reached its constitutional authority IMO.
At the very least, making it illegal on the federal level is aggressive.
Only if everyone was stoned out of their minds. Hey wait! Is that his plan for wanting to legalize it?A boost to re-election chances I dare say.
This!I wondered that myself. However, considering they will just believe anything he says anyway, if he does it, then it's good in their minds too. Win-win.
That is largely because the federal government hasn't acted. In DC, for example, pot is legal recreationally. The US Congress tried to stop legalization, but, instead, simply made it impossible to be taxed. The Federal Government must take marijuana off the schedule 1 drug list before it can be taxed in any significant way.think of the tax revenue
but then again.....I've just read a report that the illegal trade is robust as ever
and only 5% of the pot is taxed
Only if it had a pot leaf in it to signify why you were wearing it.I remember telling someone here that I would take a picture of myself wearing a MAGA hat and post it if he legalized it. That still stands.
As a "politician" I don't think Donald Trump is alone in this.
Only if it had a pot leaf in it to signify why you were wearing it.
Meh. I doubt Trump would do something like legalizing cannabis that would likely alienate a large portion of his bumpkin base before winning a second term, anyway. Him not being completely useless would be refreshing, though.
Trump would have made a good democrat.
