Charles Kushner was once a large donor to Democrats, but that didn't mean he was a Democrat any more than Donald Trump was when he donated to Democrats. Both men switched to becoming Republican donors when it suited their real estate businesses. Trump was a developer in New York when Democrats controlled zoning laws, etc. Kushner was a developer in New Jersey, a heavily Democratic state. He was charged with illegal campaign contributions to Democrats, among other things. Now, of course, he has a much more lucrative gig with Republicans, and he even gets to be ambassador to France. The Democrats never made him an ambassador.
