What truth?OK, to me, that is beside the question because 'the truth' is a question about Pluto, not just how we use language. Since nothing changed *about Pluto*, the truth stayed the same.
The truth you offered before was not the truth that people were asserting when they claimed it was a planet. I really don’t understand what you mean by truth if it has no connection to language.
Edit:
I’ll try to explain my issue a different way.
When you say that the “truth” about Pluto has remained the same, you are talking about a different truth than the statement “Pluto is a planet”. You’re talking about the truth that Pluto is a space rock that orbits the sun.
Is it your position, then, that “Pluto is a planet” cannot have a truth value assigned to it, because “planet” is just a word we made up to describe space rocks and we can change it when we want?
So, is it your position that we cannot say that it is true that “Pluto is not a planet”? That such a statement is essentially meaningless?
If not, then you really need to address the actual statement being discussed (Pluto is a planet), and not just some other statement that’s more convenient.
And if so, then hopefully you see the issues with such a position. If we cannot assign truth values (or if truth values are meaningless) for things that humans define, then what can you ever define as truth?
