U.S. House approves bill banning transgender student athletes in girls sports

No, it's not, especially since it's a form of sexual discrimination. In the 50's and 60's, most high schools didn't have any female sports, which is why Title 9 was passed.

Now, do you want to go back to that sexual discrimination as well? If not, then what do you propose with transgenders who want to play sports but there's not enough of them to form teams? Don't they matter?

How is it sexual discrimination? Being transgender is about gender, not sex.

You know.
If you actually allowed minors to have gender treatment (puberty blockers) I think the problem would ultimately be moot. Since the individual, presumably, wouldn’t have any actual biological advantage. Given that puberty and all the inherent changes associated with it would be postponed to begin with.
Problem solved.

Have you ever noticed with most boys and girls(kids) of the same age, the boys are bigger?

That depends on the age. There is no significant difference in size of strength of prepubescent boys or girls. And girls actually hit puberty before boys and there is an age where the girls tend to be bigger and stronger than the boys. Around the ages of 10 to 12 girls are on average bigger.

Not really. I knew many girls who could whoop the boys in primary (elementary and middle) school.
High school was when things actually got more interesting, so to speak

Not sure of the exact stats though

I have 62 nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, great great nephews and great great niece. The boys were most always bigger than the girls when they were kids.

When I go to my grandkids school functions, the boys are usually bigger than the girls. Not all, but most.

Break down of the story:
A transWoman sets a powerlifting record in the woman's division. Later, a huge-burley man, with a beard and all, enters the competition, identifies himself as a woman, and smashes the record by nearly 100 pounds with ease. And he did it while 100% following the rules put in place by the competition. His reason...he said to prove a point.

Another case of designing rules without
considering the spectrum of behavior
people exhibit in the real world.
To create policy based upon what people
should be is doomed to failure.

That’s an impressive family, ngl.

I didn’t really notice that among the Aussie side of my family. My nieces and nephews and cousins all seemed roughly the same size.
Same for my mothers side (Fijian Indians.)
Will say, seems a bit more prevalent among the Islander folks I know. Though the girls were much bigger than most of the Aussie boys. Even in high school. Just an observation

Do you think diet might play a part in this kind of scenario?

Like I mean, when I visited America I literally gained about 10 pounds within a couple weeks. No joke
Granted that was probably because I was purposefully trying out all the different fast food there. Out of curiosity and the novelty. But still. Even the bread there was full of sugar compared to what I’m used to. And indeed the take out I had literally ended up making me sick. (Worth it lol.)
What do they use?
Australiastan famously has much stricter food regulations compared to the US.
And our main diet is probably more grain based. Just a guess

Gender is not the same as sex. Sports are divided between sexes, not how a person self-identifies. There is no reason for a person, regardless of how they identify, shouldn't be allowed to compete against others of the same sex. Another alternative would be to have a third division for transathletes. These are the two options that ensure a level playing field (pun intended) for athletes regardless of their sex or gender.

I agree with having unique additional leagues and franchises.

Theres no arguing the distinct advantages and disadvantages when trans athletes compete, in that light, expanding into new territory accommodates those who love the sport while keeping it fair and honest.

Those that are transgender are usually on hormone suppressants and/or have had surgery with their privates. If what you say were to be true, then there wouldn't be a problem, thus not an "issue"-- but there is.
