U.S. Punishes Russia for Election Hacking, Ejecting Operatives

Have you suddenly lost the ability to count? Clinton got over a million votes more than Trump (source).

Did he actually publish those? I must have missed it.
No, he didn't. The lie was when he said he would. He said he would publish them before the election. Apparently there was something in the tax returns he didn't want known.
Could be almost anything.

But that didn't stop Trump supporters from voting for the guy who "tells it like it is"

In other news, "The new US sanctions against Russia are another manifestation of the unpredictable and aggressive foreign policy by the Obama administration ... Obama has humiliated the American people by his decision"

So Russia likes Trump and Obama is ticked.
We knew that.
Thanks for the post but is there a point you want to make that
hasn't been made for months on the media?
Russia played dirty politics and meddled in U.S. business.
Again so what else is new?
I doubt it's Trumps fault.
Trump is POTUS and we must live with it.
Personally I'm o.k. with Trump.
We've had worse and we still have the House and Senate.
Thoughts?

This isn't about Trump...

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration struck back at Russia on Thursday for its efforts to influence the 2016 election, ejecting 35 Russian intelligence operatives from the United States and imposing sanctions on Russia’s two leading intelligence services, including four top officers of the military intelligence unit the White House believes ordered the attacks on the Democratic National Committee and other political organizations.

I think this is only done for public consumption and the real stuff will be clandestine but much more of a gut punch to Russia.

One can hope.
And Obama needs to get this done before Putin's Boy takes office. That might not give Obama time to sort out the niceties of the Russian attack.
A scorched earth policy against any Russian target would work for me.
Google does business in Russia, don't they?

Perhaps so but I kinda thought the PEOPLE OF THE U.S. VOTED
not the people of Russia.
Like I remarked a few posts back.
We had an election. Happens every 4 years.
About half the voters are disappointed or depressed or angry or
a mix of those emotions.
The other half are probably satisfied.
The U.S. survives.
THIS TIME "we the people" elected a person who isn't a politician.
Interesting and were I Hillary I'd really be pissed.
(She is ya know?)
Methinks many Trump votes were really more against Hillary than for Trump but that's a totally unqualified opinion.
I can speak for only about 5 voters that have opined that to me. f.w.i.w.

...............and why the negativism towards Russia?
I don't want to live there but they, the Gov't, has come a long
way from the Cold War era.
Would I trust Russian were I a gov't official.
NO!
But it would be nice to warm up to a formidable power that
large and with so many resources and powerful allies.
Samo with China.
It would be good for the world to have the U.S., China, and Russia
on the same page and I'm including human rights and respect
for human dignity.
Am I so old that I'm the only one here that recalls when the U.S. of A.
was a nasty, nasty, place for Irish, Italians, Africans, Native Americans,
Catholics...................yeah CATHOLICS, google it, and more.
Wonder how it was to be a meek, mild, preaching, Jehovah's Witness
some 40/50 years ago. Back when country people SHOT at them for
placing religious literature.
It took BLOOD and VIOLENCE to change this country.
So let's not get too smug in our seeming omnipotence.
We ain't all that and a bag of chips.

Awwww, geee I feel a rant coming.
A small one.
Recall I'm a disabled police officer?
Well some of the reason I'm crippled is for DEFENDING folks.:policeofficer:
Like black folks, and Jehovah's Witnesses, and Gypsies, and others from WASP'S
to preachers.
WASP. If you don't know the term then google it.
Like protecting Gypsies from mobs.
(frankly I shoulda let the mobs have 'em but that's a personal opinion.)
And protecting citizens from Gypsies.
Defending folks I didn't care a hoot about because I had my own
prejudices I had to put aside.
Oddly enough it was a black guy I once defended who broke my
back and put me in rehab for NINE MONTHS.
Now that's funny!
Really ain't that a hoot?:grinning:

I know a guy at the gym, he is a cop. He told me his job was to tell other cops what to do. He drives an unmarked police car.

At the end of my career I was Lt. Commander of a shift and S.W.A.T.
leader. Also designated sniper though I never capped anyone.
(Thank you God.)
We did things like dangerous felon arrests and drug & prostitution
house raids.
Believe it or not the raids weren't as dangerous as they may sound.
I guess when we were in force of numbers and carried shotguns
and machine guns even the nastiest had enough sense to comply.
:>)
It was the domestics and bar fights and some felony arrests that got
a mite dicey.
It was once when I was acting alone, as I often was, that I got into
it with a fellow that broke my back.
I'm sure he didn't intend to cause me that much harm.
Oh, I and I did whup 'em and cuff 'n stuff 'em then an hour or so later
my leg quit working. Then to the e.r. and weeks in the hospital with
a broken spine then about 9 months in rehab learning to walk right
again.
I never worked as a cop after that. I took a disability and ran.
I ran straight to college got two degrees and retired again from General
Motors.
I need to find that guy that hurt me so I can thank him for the favor. :D

By the way the final gift I got from police work and the UGLY
one deals with so much, was alcoholism.
Three rehabs don'cha'know?
Common cop ailment.
The one cops won't ever talk about or often admit too.
Sometimes when I awake in the wee hours of the morning scared
to death I CRAVE a bottle.
Sometimes it's a daily fight ya know.
But I survive and prefer being sober and dealing with the pain.
I can't get Bea Ann out of my mind some days.
She was a mixed race girl of 20 and she had the best of all the mix.
Beautiful she was and we loved each other dearly but we never
got together.
Our worlds were too far apart.
The last time I saw her she was naked on a steel slab
in the morgue with a knife in her chest.
Sometimes when I'm alone and remember that I weep.

This most definitely is about Hillary and or the democrats. The only thing that is really known is that information was obtain from the DNC and published. It is thought that this influenced the elections (no study has been done to show that it did). It is thought that those who stole the information and those who published it wished to influence the elections - there is no proof of this but it does beg the question as to whether there is anything actually wrong with it. Obama recently made derogatory comments about Jeremy Corbyn of British Labour Party fame and this could certainly influence an election in Britain. The Obama administration has also made derogatory comments about Netanyahu which could also influence an election in Israel.

The fact of the matter is there is nothing wrong with other countries having a preferred candidates in the presidential elections of other countries. There is also nothing wrong with information coming to light that may allow voters to make more informed decisions. It is not known, for example, who leaked Trump's "grab'em" clip or who leaked his tax information. But it doesn't matter. What matters is that that information was valuable in helping voters make an informed decision about whether or not to vote for him. So why this hoo-hah about the source of the information that put the democrats and hillary in a bad light? Especially when it is quite likely that the source of the information used by wikileaks was actually leaked documents rather than hacked information?

It is also suspicious to me the overdrive the Obama administration seems to be on currently considering they are at the end of their term.

Yeah, cops have a lot of problems period.
Not a first and not for a few years.
Depends upon the area also.
I've been to the Ohio Academy about nine times or so for special training.
I met a lot of cops from all over Ohio, some from W.Va. and Pa. and
a few Federal people.
Police in "bedroom communities" don't see much violence.
Those from cities of mixed races, ethnicities, diverse populations,
with areas of low income and urban decay experience a lot of crap.
White cops really catch it from ethnic areas where they are one step
below a cockroach on the scale of living critters.
I didn't have it so awfully bad in those neighborhoods as I grew up
very poor and was what was called "white trash".
I think I might have been maybe 7 or 8 years old before I realized
"honkey" wasn't my nic name.
That eventually served me well enough as when I made detective I could
go alone into "cheat" spots and whore houses without getting stabbed
or shot.:policeofficer:
I developed a reputation with the African American community as
fair, honest, and I didn't have to arrest everyone.
I gave people a lot of "room and space" whenever I could.
That means ignoring cheat spots, gambling, prostitution, and such.
The neighborhoods tolerated what they wanted to tolerate.
If people got stabbed, robbed, shot, it was time to raid and close
places down for a while.
Being as I never took a dishonest dime served me better than one
might think.
There is some respect for a straight up official don'cha'know.
I don't get upset over things like "election hacking and politics".
So Trump got elected? One had to win and one had to loose and
there is nothing to be served by whining and wailing about it.
We'll survive and who knows? Maybe he'll surround himself with
the best of the best advisers and do at least o.k.
