A radical Muslim preacher from India has been banned from coming to the United Kingdom because of his alleged extremist views. Zakir Naik, known for his often inflammatory television sermons, was due to give a series of lectures in Britain, but the government said he would not be allowed to enter the country because of his “unacceptable behaviour” that included comments purporting to glorify terrorism.

Ahlul Bayt News Agency (ABNA.ir), The majority of Pakistani, Indian and other Muslims living in the UK have welcomed the UK government’s ban on hate preacher Dr Zakir Naik’s entry to the United Kingdom.

The Muslim Movement for the Elimination of Prejudiced Mullahs (MMEPM) welcomes the UK government’s ban on notorious sectarian and jihadi mullah Zakir Naik’s entry to the UK. The MMPEM also demands from the Indian Government to arrest Zakir Naik for spreading hate speech against Barelvi and Shia Muslims, Hindus, Christians and for also eulogizing acts of terrorism.

We also demand from the UK and Indian governments that Zakir Naik’s mouthpiece TV channels (including Peac TV in English and Urdu) must be banned for spreading hate speech and disinformation in the name of Islam.

An Indian Muslim preacher has been banned from entering the UK for his “unacceptable behaviour,” the home secretary says.

Zakir Naik, a 44-year-old television preacher, had been due to give a series of lectures in London and Sheffield.

Theresa May said that visiting the UK was “a privilege, not a right”.

The home secretary can stop people entering the UK if she believes there is a threat to national security, public order or the safety of citizens.

But she cannot ban people simply because of their views.

Ms May said: “Numerous comments made by Dr Naik are evidence to me of his unacceptable behaviour.

“Coming to the UK is a privilege, not a right and I am not willing to allow those who might not be conducive to the public good to enter the UK.

“Exclusion powers are very serious and no decision is taken lightly or as a method of stopping open debate on issues.”

This is the first person who has been excluded from the UK since Ms May became home secretary last month.

Mr Naik is based in Mumbai (Bombay) where he works for the Peace TV channel.

The BBC’s Sanjiv Buttoo says that he is recognised as an authority on Islam but also has a reputation for making disparaging remarks about other religions.

Peace TV itself describes him as “a medical doctor by professional training… and a dynamic international orator on Islam and comparative religion”.

“Dr Naik clarifies Islamic viewpoints and clears misconceptions about Islam using the Koran,” the channel’s website says.

Mrs May said the doctor was being excluded because repeated comments attributed to him was evidence of his ‘unacceptable behaviour’.

She said: ‘Coming to the UK is a privilege not a right, and I am not willing to allow those who might not be conducive to the public good to enter the UK.’

Home Office sources told The Daily Telegraph that website footage had shown the preacher making the claim that every Muslim should embrace terrorism.

Website footage is considered published material.

Dr Naik said Muslims should beware of people saying Osama bin Laden was right or wrong, adding: ‘If you ask my view, if given the truth, if he is fighting the enmies of Islam, I am for him.

‘If he is terrorising the terrorists, if he is terrorising America the terrorist, the biggest terrorist, every Muslim should be a terrorist.’

I don't know much about him, only that he tells many lies about Hinduism, which is very annoying!

He's just a liar and a bigot, Madhuri. You aren't missing anything interesting. Many of his articles, such as 'Miracles of Embryology in the Quran!!!!!' appear every now and then. Chances are if you've ever ended up reading through something someone has sent you to attempt to prove the Quran has miracles, then you've probably read through a few of his articles before.

Since he is pro-bin Laden, encouraging terrorism, etc, it's kind of embarrassingly silly that he works for a company called 'Peace TV'.

Odion you know some Muslims have a very different idea of what "Peace" is, LOL.

I can't stand this guy for, if nothing more, his complete misrepresentation of every other religion. I don't know much about his support of terrorism beyond allegations I've read. The UK is acting well within the borders of it's national law so this makes complete sense.

Aum Hari Aum!

i don't know him. but if he is provoking people with hateful speeches noone needs him. of course it would be much better if public left him alone with free choice. without audience, his speech means nothing to himself

I know for a fact that Dr. Zakir Naik misrepresents Hinduism but as far as Islam goes, he has enthused a large number of young Muslims into being convinced that the Quran is a very rational and consistent literature. I think because of him a large number of Muslims are convinced that Islam can take on the world and emerge victorious without resorting to violence. However, I find much of his logic dishonest. Banning him would only make him a martyr and transform his fans into blind followers. It is better that his assertions are questioned in open debates and he be exposed as merely a scholar of religion who has missed the spirit of religion.

without audience, his speech means nothing to himself.

He does get an audience though. Young Muslims, who have still to properly understand the subtleties of Islam, are easily swayed by his extremist views supported by twisting and misrepresenting the Qur'an. This is a physical danger that must be curbed.

Yet the Pope gets a free pass, go figure.

The Pope doesn't misrepresent other religions and insult them, nor does he use faulty science to back up his position, nor does he advocate violence on behalf of Catholicism. Although he is still an idiot (the current one).

LMAO Zakir Naik is a hate preacher? I never knew that. Then again I haven't seen many of his lectures.

I only know him as a comedian 'cause the first video I saw of him was a lecture about how false the Theory of Evolution is, and his best line was: "I have never seen any book that says "Fact of Evolution" instead, I only see "Theory of Evolution" followed by a large round of applause!

:biglaugh:

The other quality line that I remember of his was in a video about how to "convert" or argue with Atheists.

He said the very first thing he does is congratulate the Atheist for already being half Muslim: when they say "There is no God" he says they're halfway there: "There is no God, but Allah".

Again, massive applause from the crowd! Hahahaha! The guys is a laughing stock and he should not be barred from the UK: he should be free to make a fool of himself.

True, he just heads an organization that does it to little boys.
