Unbridled Capitalism is self-destructive

I'm not arguing against the value of hard work (but then, I'm also not a socialist).
I spoke generally.
But your post did remind me of some posters.
I'm just realistic about it's value and it's application. Working hard (and smart) can earn you a decent living but only exploitation of other's hard work can make you rich. (With some notable exceptions like rock star.)
Without having been exploited by others,
I'd never have gotten where I am today,
exploiting my borrowers & workers, &
strategically giving away my filthy lucre.

I recall an interview from long ago after the Iron
Curtain...
"How does it feel to be exploited by capitalism?"
"Better than being exploited by socialism."

I'm reminded of the movie, O Lucky Man.
(Socialists & capitalists will each read into
it what they want.)

It doesn't really have to be an "either/or" question. Capitalism or socialism. It can be a little bit of each, with some other ingredients as well.

From harm from others sure.
From self harm?
In the United States there is no such a thing as "common welfare" or "common good".
This is a principle about which jurists and lawmakers have written hundreds of books in Europe.
Administrative law.

In the US there is just the citizen and his little microcosm, his orchard. Period.

Based upon what you wrote.
Try re-reading your post a day
or so later. You'll see.

There is nothing in what I wrote that "dismisses the experience" of anyone or anything under any system. The phrase "dismiss the experience" does not apply to anything I wrote, nor is it implied, nor can be inferred (except possibly by the most twisted contortions of human imagination).

Watching reruns of "I Love Lucy" again?

I never liked that show.
But back in the day I did watch it because of the very limited fare available.
Switch the channel, the world isn't only black and white any more.
Poor analogy to describe mere disagreement about
how miserable Soviet socialism was. I must deal with
its fans being in denial about it, & their dream that
somehow it will work the next time around.
One thing is indeed black & white, ie, the utter failure
of every country's implementation of socialism. Not
even the most strained claims of "nuance" can alter
this fact.

Me, too. I was watching it in reruns but for similar reasons. My parents wouldn't pay for cable TV! Oh, it was such a sad childhood. We had only 5 channels: 3, 10, 13, 15 and...33 I think.

5 channels!
Such luxury!
We had 4.
The 4th was channel 9 from Canuckistan.
When UHF arrived, it was Heaven!

I flirt with @Audie in the same way I flirt with @YmirGF,
ie, purely platonically. For all I know, she could in reality
be a middle aged nerd living in his parents' New Jersey
basement.
I appreciate (or not) people for what they post.
The cruelty of thimking I might have lived south
of the moat, in jersey.
