A little girl answered her instead of the adult, and said in Japanese of course, "it means one man bus." In other words, a bus that is operated by one person. This made us both laugh. Here we could not understand what was said in Japanese because it was English with a big difference.

Even nowadays, they somehow don't know or understand that even when official government wants to write some translation in English that it just might be a good idea to get a person who is fluent in English to verify their sentences, or words.

Hey, all silliness aside, supposedly in WWII the code word lollapaloosa was used because the Japanese have no /l/ sound and could not pronounce it.

Actually, I think it is the 'R' they cannot pronounce. I believe my granddaughter's name is Ruka, but it sounds like Luka when it is said. 　るか　－Google translates this as: Ru ka. Then, of course, they don't have an 'L' in their writing system, but why fuss over details. This is why they cannot say Rice with the 'r' sound. Instead most can only say 'Lice' for rice. Have a very long experience with Japanese, or 'have a niece' as I say to myself when I feel foolish.
