How many other Buddhists have been given the lecture about worshipping false idols.
I have been accused once of worshipping a dead man,a man that never existed another time and a religion that was formed by the Devil.

A taxi driver became quite upset when he saw my Buddhist chain around my neck and began preaching,I tried so hard to change the subject and he ultimately kicked me out of the taxi, nice.

I understand different points of view are expected, but what surprises me is how angry they often get.

my favourite is your not Asian or Chinese, I explained to the last one that jesus was not an Aussie so whats the difference.

well the chain has a Buddha statue on it, wedding gift from my Thai wifes dad, solid Gold piece so I usually hide it as its Gold.

Another thing I notice is people assume I became Buddhist when I got married because my wife is thai, I got into it when I was 12.

I don't think his beef was so much with Buddha as it was with me not following is Christian beliefs, i tried to explain that if his religion is working for him he should continue to embrace it however he only fired up more, lol.

I'm not neccesarily anything, and I have problems discussing why religion is dumb with some people, and why it is awesome with other people. I have come to realize there is one common denominator in both situations.

Thus walking the line of compassion for all beings. I have come to conclude that true love sometimes exists simply in the utmost belief for the well-being of a person. From the aspect of oneness, sacrificing yourself for someone else just means you come everything is the same. Now helping someone else while helping yourself, that's a different story. But when it comes to sacrificing yourself in order to help someone else, sometimes the best you can logically do is to genuinely "wish them the best".

I wish more people would ask me that lol. My answer might end up instilling more dogmatic thinking in them then they had in the first place though lol.

I don't do ritual, (just meditation/contemplation,) and have no statues or ornaments, so I've never had a problem. (Although some people have expressed admiration for my taijitu mouse pad when they've seen it.) I'll discuss religion/principles with just about anyone, and am only very rarely asked what my religion is. I've never been lectured, either.
