I have to agree with Kirran's perspective
Does vegetarianism actually make you a better person?
Or do you agree with the following statement more? "What goes into someone's mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them."
Do you know any mean vegetarians?
You sound so reluctant!
I've "murdered" to help feed my friend and her family (and her dad's a lot of fun to be around).Does not being a murderer make you a better person?? Why should it be different with animals than it is with people??
No. We are simply too destructive and too foolish to pretend otherwise, meat eating or not. It's also nature's way. Ideally, at least we aren't eviscerating and eating our prey live, "vice griping" them to death, injecting agonizing venom, or many other ferocious and terrifying hunting methods in nature (such as the typical spider's). We aren't perfect with humane deaths, but many certainly try harder than some.Does vegetarianism actually make you a better person?
What comes out of the mouth is a reflection of character (or illness), and what goes in most certainly can defile us. Too much bad language can make you look dumb, but too much bad food can slowly kill you.Or do you agree with the following statement more? Not in real life. But, where I live, eating meat everyday, even with every meal, is very common. Often I've been asked if I went vegetarian because someone sees me eating a meal without meat. So, I've only ever actually met a few vegetarians, with having met most of them at college.Do you know any mean vegetarians?

He's still a better person than if he ate meat and spewed the same hatred at the world IMHO
But you really can't go by the actions of one or even a group of people. In all my years on various religious message boards, the nastiest person I ever ran across was a Buddhist monk on the AOL religious site a couple of decades ago. Another man p.m.ed me and was totally mystified by the monk's words as he not only knew him, the monk was his meditation teacher out in California.I started the thread because I know a vegetarian who pours so much hatred to the world that I started doubting in if it makes you better by default....
BTW, I mostly eat vegetarian, but it obviously has not made me a better person.
