I thought this video was pretty well done, by Spooky Scary Socialist. I don't normally post videos like this, but I'm going to make an exception with this one, since it's rather entertaining and its pace is rather brisk, with interesting graphics and other visual effects.

Debunk anti-fascism. I was really just making a point about a double standard that always disgusted me. It's fine to defend communism and even to be an open Stalinist or Maoist - two of history's biggest murderers. But could you imagine a professor being a "Fascist theorist" like you have Marxist-Leninists at universities, for example? I think if one is not allowed, neither should be.

In fairness, I've known quite a few communists, including self-identified Marxist-Leninists, and only a few of them supported state oppression, the Gulag, etc. The rest simply liked the economic ideals, impractical and unrealistic (in my opinion) as they may be.

One thing I might add is that, if we were to look over the wider historical background and compared which group was more heavily persecuted, fascists or communists, then (in the US at least) I would say it would be communists.

Fascism is really just capitalism on steroids, so there's no real point in being "anti-fascist" unless one is also anti-capitalist.

I think raising all these issues in one thread may come across as a gish gallop, but I'll give him that he tore chunks out of animal farm and George Orwell.

Fascism is really just capitalism on steroids, so there's no real point in being "anti-fascist" unless one is also anti-capitalist.

Because at the end of the day it doesn't matter what economic system a state has, the state is gonna do what it wants to do.
And facism isn't based in or inherently includes capitalism. The Spartans are basically the earliest example of proto-fascists, and Mussolini was more of a Romanesque nationalist. And it's nationalism on steroids that is fascism.

Or address the fact that Marx-Leninists often specifically argued against the sanctity of human life and that it didn't matter how many people died in pursuit of their goals.

If everything government does is socialist, then
I'm a socialist too. What's wrong then? This isn't
the definition of socialism, ie, the "people" owning
the means of production.

Because at the end of the day it doesn't matter what economic system a state has, the state is gonna do what it wants to do.

The system does matter because each has requirements
for existence, & this leads to emergent properties.
To discover them, consider the analogy with Evolution, ie,
emergent properties aren't deduced from theoretical
premises....they're discovered by empiricism.
Regarding economics, examine the history of countries
with various systems to see which government styles are
associated with which economic system. Trends do emerge.

It wasn't a denial, but he was saying that the original claims regarding the victims of communism were questionable and heavily biased.

I would ask, whenever people cite the huge body counts attributed to communism, are they citing their own personal research, or are they just parroting something they heard someone say?

The narrator didn't deny what happened, but suggested that they were under what he called "siege socialism" due to the overwhelming outside opposition to communism right from the get-go. He pretty much established that capitalists have been utter fanatics and carried out numerous campaigns against communists (even before Mao or Pol Pot), so the choice they faced was either go soft and be defeated or defend themselves.
