This was weird. A drunken man at a park in Cook County saw a woman wearing a Puerto Rico t-shirt and started harassing her, claiming that her shirt was "un-American." There was also a cop nearby who did nothing to stop him or intercede. The man was later arrested and the cop was put on desk duty pending an investigation. The governor of Puerto Rico believes the cop should be fired.

“Are you a citizen? Then you should not be wearing that,” he says in the video. He also said, “You’re not going to change us. The world is not going to change the United States of America. You should not be wearing that in the United States of America.”
The man in the video was later arrested, but the a Forest Preserves police officer can be seen in the footage watching from about 20 feet away as the woman was attacked and not doing anything, leading to outrage. That officer is now under investigation. In the video, the woman can be heard asking the officer, “I do not feel comfortable with him here; is there anything you can do?” She later says in the video, about the officer, “He didn’t do anything.”
Police have not released the name of the suspect nor the name of the officer. The man was charged with disorderly conduct and assault, police said.
